Root [Theme] DaBlues for Galaxo 1.6.3.4

DaSchmarotzer

Blame it on me
Hey guys.

I recently decided to use Galaxo again instead of GAOSP. I'm not saying the switch is permanent, GAOSP is great too. However, I wasn't satisfied with the looks of the themes available for Galaxo, so I decided to port my own DaBlues theme. There are a few differences here and there because 1.6 and 2.2 aren't exactly the same thing. ;)

There are only two "apps" modified: framework-res.apk and settings.apk, so this theme will not change your launcher or other apps.

The Power Control widget isn't themed exactly like that anymore, but it's still dark and blue.

You will not get the custom dock at the bottom of the screen, that's simply ADW Ex (paid app). You will not get the Quick Settings app shown in the expanded notification tray but it is free in the market. The clock widget isn't included either, it's Typoclock.

Download 1.2 here.
Download 1.0 here.

Change log coming soon, but you should use the latest version.

Known bugs:

Some notifications appear as dark (such as downloading from market) on a dark background.
Work in Progress

I'm always open to feedback, suggestions, criticism and some requests. :D

I have ADW ex payed, where do i set that option for the dockbar?

On the homescreen, press the menu key, then select "Plus", then ADWSettings, then UI settings, then Main Dock, then Dock Background, then Custom...

You probably knew this anyway. It simply is a picture that I did in Photoshop and I put the shortcuts on it, however I customized these shortcuts to have an invisible icon. So basically what you need on the sd card is a picture for the dock and a png file consisting of a transparent background. You can do everything else with ADW Ex.

Ohh now i understand, i can do it but........ lazy is my middle name. :D
And its 2:40 am here anyway :) Watching the Simpsons 'till i fall asleep.
Thanks for the awesome theme.

Thanks. :)

I finally succeeded decompiling and compiling again (and yet I have no idea why it wouldn't work), so I'll keep working on it. :D

When i try to go to wi fi settings the settings force closes. This kinda suck ballz since i am not able to configure new wi fi networks. The same with bluetooth settings. When i try to write a new APN as soon as the keyboard appears the screen go to the previous window. Its weird man. Like i have a virus :D
DaS you should check this out too. Maybe its from the theme, hard to believe though.
After some testing, i figured out that the settings work with DaBlues 1.0 but they dont with DaBlues 1.1. Check it out DaS.

Thanks for the feedback, I just checked an you are right. There's probably something I don't know about Android 1.6: everything I do doesn't work properly. I tried Googling some information, but most of it is about Froyo or 2.1.

That's a bummer.

Well see what happens if you install 1.0 from recovery, maybe it gets fixed. When i tested i didnt used this method, i just restored a nandroid that had dablues 1.0. Then maybe you can see what's wrong using an elimination criteria. I`m going out for a beer and football game (soccer as you call it). Check ya later. If you want you can add my YM id in your MSN, Yahoo or GTalk, so we can power talk later.
Good luck!

I tried adding you on my GTalk, I don't know if it worked. Anyway, you can add me: DaSchmarotzer at gmail.com

This was created for Androidforums, so anyone can add me. ;)

EDIT: Oh, and it won't get fixed by installing 1.0 from recovery, I know that. The fix would be using Back to Galaxo. (And then 1.0 if you want it again).

Oh crap :|

I seriously don't know what to try next. Every time I compile the framework, I get a boot loop. I've done pretty much everything I could without decompiling, but to continue I need to solve that problem.

I tried to edit settings.apk again, but I still get a force close when trying to access the wifi options. I have one more idea about that, but if it doesn't work then I really don't know what causes this.

Well try that last ideea, maybe ask Frojd or somebody. If it doesnt work we must settle with the 1.0. Even if the Power Control widget is lovely in the black skin. Have a easy day. I go to bed.

I asked in the Drakaz chat, Obi, Kam and sado didn't seem to know. I'll PM Frojd and I'll see who succeeded on making themes for Galaxo. If inFECT was still around I could ask him, but sadly he has not logged in for months. The last thing I wanted to try didn't work either.

EDIT: I got another idea. I'm not giving up yet. ;)

Alright! I got it working! And by that I mean compiling the framework to avoid boot loops.

I tried a few things at the same time, so I'm not sure what the problem was... I updated and installed every component of the SDK, I then downgraded apktools and I also removed some useless stuff from the xml (some remaining lines regarding the files of the super circle battery).

Since it's 2AM and I'm done for today, I'll upload the version that worked for now and then I'll do a major update when I'm ready.

Only a few things changed (it was a test after all): The "Clear" button is now black (and it reads "Clear!" instead of "Clear"). The settings widget is a mix between mine and the one from Darksense, so it fits and the wifi/bluetooth settings work.

And it can just be applied over this faulty one or i need to upgrade from that nandroid with the 1.0 settings working one?
Edit: It works, i just applied over this one. Yet i still cant add a new APN. But at least i can use wifi settings.

I can enter a new APN just fine, that issue is not caused by the theme. ;) I can't really help you with that though.

Great theme, thanks!
Btw, my dock background (if anyone wants to use it):

Isnt Dialer slow to you guys on adw ex? Especially the contacts part. I hate it when ai get a call and it takes the phone 20 seconds to identify the number and show me the name.

Contacts/dialer were always slow for me. I also don't have a caller ID so I can't compare.

As for the theme, I changed the menu to black with white text. I didn't release anything, as I'm currently trying to fix the black text when downloading or uploading. That text is white when receiving a sms, that's weird.

Glad you like it, thanks for sharing your dock. ;)

You'll get that with all replacement launchers. Since they're not integrated into the system, they cannot share the UID of the .acore process, thus making contacts/sms/phone slow. Once you open up contacts/sms/phone, the acore process has to launch and load all the data. A system-integrated launcher runs as part of the acore process, which is therefore always active and loaded.

Thank you again. :P
@DaS, did you tried zipping the Adw ex and apllying it from recovery? Maybe the Dialer will work better then.

I always do that. ;)

I'm still trying to fix the black text from the notifications for the market (download, upload) or from the music app. I even contacted Fabolous for some info, currently waiting for a reply.

So is it working? Is the Dialer/Contacts lag free? I guess not considering your posts above.

For the dialer/contacts, I get some lag but I don't mind that much. I always overwrite the system launcher via recovery... isn't that what you guys do? :p I'm afraid I can't distribute a .zip containing ADW Ex as it's a paid app.

Seeing that I couldn't figure how to change some notifications to white, I decided to change the background to a 50% gray so black and white are both readable. ;) I'm still waiting for a reply from Fabolous, although it doesn't seem like he can help. I tweaked a few other things, I might change some more stuff (pop-ups, general colors, keyboard, windows, checkboxes, etc).
