Themes and Message Alerts

Ok .. got myself a Samsung Galaxy Mini and its quite different to my old Nokia phone. I'm loving it but how can I change the 'theme' on it? Does it not do themes and if so are they 'Apps'? I tried to download some ... phone installed them as 'applications' but they don't appear anywhere and no option to set them as a theme.

Also how can I change the text message alert. It only gives me the built in options (can't hear any of them at my age) lol. Once again if I go to the file I cannot find any options to set as message alert of notification alert. Frustrating.

You will likely need a home replacement app (go launcher, launcher pro, ADW launcher...) to apply any theme from the market, this would replace the stock home screen with one that can be customized easier.

From the home screen go to Settings>Sound and you can change the volume there for notifications or you could download an app like AudioManager which will allow you to set them as well.
