Agree in full with the workarounds.
Point is, a site of this magnitude would ideally not have such ad mechanisms. Not everyone wandering in here uses anti-popup options and I think it would be viewed negatively by most common users. Essentially, a slowdown in site traffic could occur.
But that's just a guess on my part.
