Root Things are looking dead.

The forum has been looking dead since late september - early october. CyanogenMod has been about the only thing exciting and work on that has come to a crawl. We need more developers. Giantpune needs some help; we can't all depend on one guy. If anyone knows any devs, pull them here. Please. CM is so close, ICS/JB is not too far away.
 
I know. I've been waiting patiently for any updates from Giantpune but I don't think he has been online. There are developers that worked on the Optimus Slider, and the OV, why can't we convince them to help out Giantpune?

The last update he did on cm7 was on Oct. 26 I believe.
 
I've been busy with work.

When I last received a PM from him, GP mentioned he would be away from his main computer for a month. He let me know that he located some interesting source code which might help things along.

There may be more progress when people have some free time to work on it.
 
Slacking off at this time of year is common, don't panic.

Typically, it slows due to school restarting, and as it starts to recover we head into the holidays. Expect a bit of activity after Black Friday, and a bit more after Christmas. Sometime after New years it will really get rolling again.

I sure have. I hate this device. 104, 67 and now 129 errors multiple times a day. Unable to get and keep a 3G signal. Overheating until it reboots. Randomly reboots or just shuts off and wont turn back on again.
 
Mine does NONE of that. What do you have installed on your phone Macfett? Do you have bad signal in your area? Did you freeze/uninstall NFC?

Yours is doing what mine started to do when I went off on Vm. Even with phone 100% stock I had issues too so I don't think it's a OC issue. Mine actually stopped getting signal altogether.
 
The musical has been devouring my time. It'll be over this weekend though.

Havn't had time to read through the whole thread, but from what I can tell, cm7 just needs the camera preview and roaming fixed and it'll be done right?
 
I think he said video doesn't work at all either, and I'm sure there will still be quite a few bugs that we will all figure out as well lol. Hopefully there will ve updates on the CM7 Rom when he releases it and listens to our known issues with it and stuff. :]
 
Thing is people, this phone won't be dead. There's gonna be great devs holding their hands out to us, more people will buy the phone, come here, and use what these great devs have given us. People will leave, people will come. I will have this phone for another year most likely. As a current successful student and a dream of heading to college and becoming a computer engineer (GO MSU!), I could come back to help the community as much as all of you here have. This phone ain't dead.. just be patient. It's a circle of life here.

It did it with stock unrooted, it did it with harmonia, aeneas, and now back to stock. Signal was great with my optimus v and continues to be great on my wife's optimus. Have done nothing with NFC. Only system apps i have frozen are email and launcher2.apk.

I am not over clocked so that is not the issue either. This is currently my 3rd Elite, all with signal and overheating issues.
 
It sux that some people, like kwknott and McFett have had nothing but bad luck with this phone. I am one of the lucky ones, the Elite has been very good to me and I hope the ROMS keep flowing.

I think this phone is a perfect size, awesome price, great screen, fast processer and all for $25 a month...... yup I'm in love - hehe

The only thing that annoys me is the screen resolution. It is HORRIBLE. I can't stand it. OOOOOWEEEE I can't stand it. It is horrible. Horrible.
