Things I notice coming from Evo Shift

Bradskey

Newbie
Just upgraded 2 days ago and am enjoying the phone a lot. However, coming from an HTC phone I've noticed the following:

Default email client sucks, IMAP delete does not work correctly. On my HTC it just works. On the Samsung I delete a message and it doesn't get deleted from the server, so it downloads the message I just deleted a little later.

HTC tweaked the browser to include really nice text wrapping feature, when reading articles and other web pages with lots of text. Samsung has no support for this, you zoom into the text and it just pans off the screen. I'm using Opera Mobile instead (which is really nice) just to get this feature back. Will be interested to see what Firefox does as it matures.

Wi-Fi seems flakey at times. Even 3G signal gets lost sometimes where my Evo never had problems. Get error code 97 when trying to send texts from home on my Airrave (reset the device several times). Usually there's a patch for this kind of crap within a few weeks.

Still overall pleased with this phone, if Samsung would just concentrate on some of their software features besides the eye candy. The camera is a ton better than the Shift camera, and I love not having to delete apps just to install anything (can't believe we were putting up with a measly couple hundred MB storage in 2010). I can't tell that a quad core would have been necessary it's so crazy fast already. Battery life so far is VERY impressive. I had the fattest battery ever on my Shift so I could actually use it, but I don't think I'll need an expanded battery on the S3. AllShare is kinda cool. Love the weight and feel of the device, this will be the first Android phone I might be able to stand for the life of my contract.

Just an update, I got the functionality I wanted from the stock email app by deleting and recreating as a POP account and setting it to delete from server only when I delete from my inbox. I don't know why IMAP doesn't work correctly but apparently has been an issue for a while.

I also found in the stock browser settings that there is an option to fit a page to the screen. This is not exactly what I am looking for, as it doesn't not re-flow text, or at least not very well, so I still using Opera instead.

Also, I commute far enough every day that the weather can be slightly different. I configured the clock/weather widget to automatically detect my location and update every hour, but it seems to get the location stuck and only switches when I manually set it to my current location -- this is kind of annoying.
