Help Things impeding Wifi

Ok so I noticed that my Prime gets varying download speeds. I have a 30mb cable connection and two routers in the house one using home plugin kit. I used Speedtest to get the numbers

I also use Tablet talk - these are my findings

Router one
Wifi 27.72
Wifi with BT on 20.69
Wifi + BT + Tablet Talk 11.33

Plug in Router
Wifi 18.90
Wifi with BT on 11.99
Wifi +BT = Tablet Talk 4.23

When I use Tablet talk over wifi rather than BT all is fine.

So my conclusions - BT, when being used by something like Tablet talk IS limiting Wifi download speeds - the bars stay the same all the way through.

What do you think?

The browser you use to run the benchmarks makes a difference. If you use different browsers, you'll get different speeds. There are also different benchmarks, which use different algorithms. The network traffic also makes a difference, and the more users on the connection, the slower the speeds will be. More users on the cable, slower speeds, and you can sort of predict what hours people will be surfing the most.

i used the Speedtest app and repeated the tests when no one else was using the connection.

Without doubt Tablet talk using bluetooth hugely impeded the wifi signal - this is some kind of proof that an active bluetooth connection does limit the wifi greatly

I haven't replicated your results, but I'm about to. I don't know what Tablet Talk is though. Gotta look that one up.

Not insulting you, just assuming maybe you dont know ... this is a known issue. check XDA for the sticky on "BT+WiFi Fallout Issues" or something

apparently wifi drops off extremely in some units as soon as you turn BT on, let alone use it.

And in my own testing, i find Wifi works better on wireless G, wireless-N is terrible.

Did a quick test and my drop was non-existent with BT on and only slightly with an active BT transmission...(Google Music playing through my headset). That variation may have been due to network traffic differences.
