Root Thinking about a NookColor

Android Enthusiast
I'm looking to buy one of these and convert into an Android tablet.

I have a few questions though:

Will most apps for android 2.2+ work on it if I run one of the roms posted?

How is the battery life?

Should I just buy a regular android tablet and call it a day instead?

Ditto. I'm going back to college and maybe need an e-reader. If I can root this, it would be gravy.

Yes, most of the market apps will run on a rooted Nook.
I have my wifi set to turn off when the Nook sleeps, that's made a huge difference in battery life. I was having to charge it every day, now it can go three days without a charge (assuming my usual 2 or so hours of usage each day). Obviously how long the battery lasts for you is going to depend how you've got it set up and how much you use it.

Yeah pretty much everything works great. I can get a full day out of mine playing heavy duty games and streaming Netflix and hulu. I use mine to the Max. You could probally get at least 2 or more days out of it with medium usage.

Just remember that, unlike most tablets, the NC doesn't have built-in GPS, camera(s), and Bluetooth is more limited. If you can live without these, it makes a fine 7-inch tablet.

On the plus side, your college probably has eBooks in their library collection. When in Nook mode, it works with eBooks better than any tablet, IMHO. Adobe Digital Editions recognizes the NC, and downloading an eBook is just a click and a drag away.
