Thinking of getting 3rd party Battery? Battery not lasting very long?

DON'T!

Upon purchasing phone in May read the battery wasn't great so purchased a battery with 'higher capacity' off of ebay (1800mah).
Knowing a little electronics decided if it has more capacity it must be better?

I ran two batteries for a wHile and didn't really notice that much of a difference, never got a whole day out of the battery - not once. The phone wouldn't even last the night with all syncs off.

At a party lost the official samsung one so have been on the 'bigger' one for a few months. Recently the battery has really started to annoy me and was getting random restarts. Got fed up so turned lots off and uninstalled loads to no avail. I was getting random turn offs (not restarts) and could not replicate moving the battery round. Upgraded to cyanogenmod 9 and liked it and got slightly better battery but still issues.
Noticed that when I unplugged the charger the 'charge' instantly dropped to 93% so thought 'hmmm the battery may not be that great'

I ended up purchasing a new Official Samsung Battery, it came fully depleted, had to charge for 10min before could even turn phone on.
After charged used battery calibration app and unplugged, I have had mobile networks on all the time wifi about 80%, been playing music over bluetooth and browsing the web etc. currently on 23hours with 18% battery left.

Not quite sure how it's better than original battery, guessing it's the OS upgrade and changes I've made as the batteries degraded, but yeah I wouldn't recommend cheap batteries from overseas.

I bought a set of 1800mah batteries off E-Bay a while ago, the battery life on them sucks, but they work fine for a backup.

I got an extended battery (Samsung) from Amazon with capacity of 2000mah.
It comes with a different back that is only a tiny bit thicker and brings the back flush with the camera. It event still fits into my belt case with no problem.
Capacity is great and after a few full charges (off the mains adapter) it really performs well.
OK, I'm a light user, but after a full charge on a sunday afternoon, I didn't charge it again until thursday! However, to get this performance I always have my data and wireless turned off unless I need them.
Quick tip. To switch off data you don't need an APN manager, just push-hold the power button and then take the option to disconnect data.
Also, in the evenings, I usually have brightness down to around 60% or less.
Another tip. Dim the screen by sliding right to left across the top notification bar.

Al,

I've also got the official Samsung extended battery. It does make the phone slightly thicker but I personally prefer how it feels. The battery life is also loads better.
