Thinking of switching to Verizon. Any phone recommendations?

I am three months away from my end of contract with Sprint and I was seriously thinking about switching to Verizon because the areas I travel have better Verizon coverage and their 3G data is a lot better then Sprints in those areas. I think I would only have to pay about $60 ETF since I am so close to the end. With that in mind any recommendations on a Verizon phone. My wife has a Thunderbolt which I believe is reaching EOL so I would be looking for something at the start of life.

Thanks for any recommendations anyone can give.

I just did my NE2 upgrade a few weeks ago and spent about a month research the current crop of phones. What it boils down to is what do you use your phone for the most. The Galaxy Nexus is the most feature packed handset, but it falls short as an actual phone. VZW has several options from Motorola, which generally feature better hardware than the other OEMs.

I ended up going with the Droid Razr (regular, not MAXX), and I absolutely love it. But I also came to this phone from a Droid X, so I knew what I was going to be getting from a Moto handset. My advice is to go to a VZW store and plau around with the demo units. You might actually get lucky and find an employee who actually knows what they're talking about and can help you, too.

Couple new phones coming next month; Droid Fighter and Incredible 4G. I'd wait for one of those, if it were me.

How is the battery life with the Motorola Droid RAZR? Are the HTC or Samsungs any better with battery life then the Motorola or are they all about the same?

Thanks

I've had my RAZR for almost a week I love it. Coming from the Evo 3D, I think it was a decent upgrade. I'm not the biggest fan of the Motorola UI, but its not horrible. I think I prefer Sense, but this isn't far from it in terms of usability. Sense just seems a bit more uniform than Moto's UI.

As for the battery... its an Android phone, what else can I say? If you know what you're doing you can easily get 10-12 hours before you need to charge. Personally, it's a great phone, but I agree with the above statement of look for something released closer tl your contract end date.

I tend to agree with hilmar2k, with the Droid Fighter rumored to be released on 4/12, I'd wait to at least take a look at it before deciding. However, I'd guess the price to be $299 with 2 year contract, so if cost is an issue, perhaps one of the phones that has been out for awhile will work better for you.

Best of luck,

I broke the glass on my Sprint EVO yesterday but it is still usable. If I can replace the glass myself then I can wait, if the screen gets worse I might have to switch earlier. I like the EVO but it is a battery hog, I am looking for something comparable to that.

Thanks for the suggestions.

If battery life is a concern, I don't think anything comes close to the RAZR MAXX.

I was with sprint i went from the moment to the evo to the nexus s. Since Switching I had 3 razrs and they all had data issues. So verizon sent me a galaxy nexus. I wish I had gotten this from the start. Extended batteries available and unbelievably smoother all around than any phone I've had.

hTC Droid Incredible 4G!
The first device on VZW to have the S4 Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC (krait based) processor.
It will also be released with ICS.
I would check that out for sure.
It will be VERY fast and responsive.
