This is a very good phone!

Ok, I recently switched back to Virgin Mobile from T-Mobile (where I had the G2x) because I don't need to spend almost $100 for what I can get from $55 (minus the 4g of course).

Anyway, I still had my Optimus V and, although it's a great little phone, I had a hard time going back to it from the G2x.
I started reading these forums about the Triumph and was REALLY reluctant to get it because of all the issues I've read about on here.

I finally took the plunge and got it and I'm REALLY happy I did, it is a great phone.
Just about every device I've ever owned had issues, but I haven't found any MAJOR ones on this. The only issue I have is that the soft buttons sometimes have to be pushed twice.. the rest of the screen is very responsive.
On oddity I had is that the whole screen went grey, but I just locked it and unlocked it and it was fine.. not sure what it was and it only happened once.

After I got it I rooted it and then used Titanium backup to remove a bunch of the bloat (like Poynt, SCVNGR, etc..).

One of the things I use a LOT that I was REALLY nervous about is the GPS. I read a lot of posts about long lock times and whatnot, but I have NO problem with the GPS at all!
The longest time it took me to get a lock was 15 seconds. Other than that it normally locks in about 2 seconds.. literally.

I'm very happy with the camera and video quality (another thing I use a lot).
The screen looks great, the size is great.. overall it's a very good phone.

Apps and games work GREAT on it. I can't play some of the games I played on the G2x, because I had some Tegra games, but there are some killer non-tegra games.
I've been playing the crap out of NFS Hot Pursuit lately. ;)

There may have been more issues with earlier units, but this one seems to be working fine so far.
If you're considering upgrading on Virgin Mobile, I can defintiely recommend this phone.

what's your manufacturer date? not saying gps is a hardware problem or anything. all i've seen so far were made in june

Right. You rooted it. Likely the GPS now has the drivers/library to work properly under Gingerbread.

That would only be true if they also flashed the CM7 or MIUI ROM. Rooting your phone does not change drivers. It just gives you root access (access to areas of the OS you couldn't get otherwise).

Good point - I meant to write that, but implied it by the comment about the drivers/libraries in Gingerbread. I'm not an expert w.r.t. these different "roms" or "builds", but technically, wouldn't CM7 and MUI be variants of the GB release?

Yes, I think that will help some people. A good post which they moved to all things root... Kudos for a well written explanation.
