Help This phone is driving me crazy!

I got this phone in February and other than the battery always seeming to overheat it has been fine but here recently the place where you plug in the charger is not holding it. I have to push it in and hold it for it to even charge and I cant sit and hold the charger all day. Plus, even when it is charged 100% after I take the charger off of the phone the battery will go down slowly even when I am not using it. This is really aggravating especially since I paid $150.00 for this phone only 10 months ago. I am very disappointed.
 
Battery drain when idle is common in everything so that's not really a problem as such. You could try to reduce this by turning of data/wifi, using airplane mode in areas of bad signal etc

Are you sure the fault's not with the charger cable?
 
I keep the wifi off and have deleted a bunch of my apps as well thinking that would help with the battery and it doesn't. As for the charger cable, I have tried at least 5 different ones including ones in the car so I think it has to be the actual insert where it plugs into.
 
When was the last time you did a factory reset or if rooted you did a data wipe and battery stat cleaning . This reset will wipe battery stats so the phone should read a correct charge count .
 
Unfortunately, the Galaxy S and cousins (Proclaim included) have horrid USB ports. They wear out prematurely. One thing to look for is lint in the jack however, as this is also a problem.
 
The Battery in my phone seems to go dead almost everyday. I have to recharge it every night. I left it in my truck over night, I got this morning and had to recharge it. I have almost all of theocrat apps turned off. I can not find a battery for it that is an extended power battery.

I found a lot of extra stuff on ebay for the Proclaim. I bought (2) extra batteries w/wall charger and auto charger.....all for about $12. They are made in China and I received in about 1 week. everything works very well though. When I am traveling, I just charge up all 3 batteries before I leave and it gets me thru just about any time period and usage until I can charge them all again.
