I'm not trying to be negative or just come here to bash, but "upgrading" from my HTC Desire to a Motorola Atrix a short while ago, I have to say I was not impressed.

The first thing that struck me as annoying was the fact that I had to create a motoblur account in order to use the phone. It would not let me simply skip or opt out on this feature which I think is simply ridiculous.

Immediately following I got to experience how terrible the battery life is on this phone. Between the dual core processor, the background motoblur, and whatever else is on this phone it just ate through my battery like it was nothing. Maybe I just didn't know how to configure things properly, but I found it absurd in comparison to the battery life on my previous desire.

The camera is horrible on this device, as I've heard it is on a lot of other motorola phones. Seriously the images look like they are taken on a flip phone from 10 years ago other than the fact that the 8mPx resolution somewhat makes up for this fact.

I am sure if I rooted the phone and installed cyanogen mod it would help correct a good amount of the issues I was having with the phone, but I didn't want to go through the hassle and sold it in favor of an HTC Incredible S. I have to say, for a somewhat comparable phone the Incredible S is miles better than this piece of junk they call the Atrix.. In my mind.

At any rate, the only reason I'm posting this is because I was literally so let down with the quality in comparison to other competing phones that it blew me away. I'm not just trying to be a hater and come here to "flame".

I don't know why anyone would choose this phone..

ATRIX ain't more buggy than most phones you have to get used to them. It is actually a good phone and the fact that it has computing power and has a finger print scanner gives it a ++

Agreed. My Atrix 4G is my 2nd android motorola phone. What I have come to realize is, you have to set up your phone and apps correctly. If not, you will have a apps clashing with each other and will have a bad experience. Most times, its not the phone causing the problems, but the apps installed and how those apps are being used and set up. (But that is with any cellphone though.) Is my Atrix perfect, no, but what phone is. I have the lapdock which takes the Atrix to a whole new level of mobile computing power. The Atrix 4G is a miniature computer and requires care, some maintenance and updating of the 3rd party apps. By maintenance I'm referring to cleaning out caches, checking how much memory storage is left. Doing some house cleaning, in the on board folders, etc. I do hope that you enjoy your new phone though. Its all love here in the Android forums.

Still though, for myself, I want my smartphone to have a pretty good quality camera on it so that I can use it as a replacement camera for the times that I don't have my real one with me. Even if everything else was just "not configured properly" it doesn't change the fact that the camera quality just is not there on this phone. That was by in far my biggest issue with the phone because in 2012 you'd think most any android phone you purchase would come with a robust enough camera to suit the aforementioned need. Apparently not the Atrix.

I'm not necessarily an HTC fan boy. I really don't have any brand preference when it comes to my android phone. I am just commenting on the fact that in my experience thus far I am not at all happy with Motorola and because of it probably wouldn't go near another one of their phones in the future again. And maybe I just don't know how to work with motoblur, but it really peeved me off that I had to register with that before even attempting anything else on the phone. Too intrusive for me, and the freedom from that kind of intrusion is one of the driving reasons I am an android fan over wanting anything to do with the iphone.

I totally understand how you feel about the Motoblur registration. It is annoying that you MUST register it to use your phone. I really was teasing you about the HTC thing, as evidenced by my winky face icon.
I have had, and do have both HTC's, and Motorola's, and I find them both to be quality phones with quality workmanship. I truly believe that it is a matter of personal preference, and there is nothing wrong with that at all.

I would like to add in my support for the Atrix. Although I do know that each phone will have it's own individual quirks, as with all objects on this world.

I got my Atrix just about a year ago, giving my Bravo to my wife. I love this phone. Stock, my battery will regularly last two days with moderate-high usage. Compared to every HTC phone myself or my friends have used, where the standard battery will not last a single day.

The requirement for a Motoblur account really does not phase me at all. I already must have a Gmail account tied to my phone so as I see it all Motoblur is a secondary back-up system. I know when I switched to the Atrix I learned that some of my contacts hadn't backed up to my Gmail account. But that didn't matter to me at all because Motoblur automatically filled in the gaps Gmail had missed.

I will say I do not like my Facebook or other social networking accounts tied into Motoblur so it never has to worry about updating any information (This may be why my battery life is good).

I do understand the complaints about the poor camera, and it would bother me but I really don't care about taking pictures. The camera quality is almost the dead last thing I pay attention to when purchasing my phones. The only use I get from it is sending occasional pictures of beers to one of my friends.

One of the initial features of the Atrix i originally discounted as I was getting it and assumed would be useless has been my favorite feature... The fingerprint scanner is probably my favorite thing about the phone. The simple ability to unlock my phone before I even glance at it allows me to much more easily accomplish the tasks I am doing and need to do. In my opinion, the fingerprint scanner is worth its weight in gold.

I think the Camera works pretty Good. You just have to know how to adjust the settings. Zooming in though the picture quality does go down. Inside pictures is a little tricky too. Some look granny depending on the source of light. I took this picture today in the sun, with 0 exposure.

MOTOBLUR is not that useless it stores the contacts that I add so if I reset and their not on my gmail I don't lose them saved me when I was flashing a new rom

I am in a work truck all day without the ability to charge my phone, and I use the GPS to drive all over my state in my job. No 2 days are the same and I can't memorize my route. So I need a phone with battery life, which was my draw to this phone. It would last me a very long time. From 6 AM to 10 PM every single day while using Maps all day.

If you got horrible battery life you either got one crappy battery, or you don't know what you're doing.

I had this phone, and passed it on to my daughter when I got a new one.
I didn't have any problem with the battery, but she says her battery life is horrible. I can't tell you the differences, but clearly we had totally different experiences with the battery life, and we both used it alot, just differently.
I think it also has alot to do with what else is running on your phone, and other variables such as location.
