Thread I made at Moto User Forum....

Nice thread you wrote up at the Moto forums at least it didn't start like "UNLOCK THE FRICKIN BOOTLOADER...YOU SUCK MOTO".

You know if Moto doesn't want to unlock the bootloader, can they at least make their own custom kernels that they can make available for download? I mean, it'll be nice to have a choice if I want an overclocked kernel or a lower voltage kernel. I would pay for that if they won't unlock the bootloader. I don't think it would hurt security if they were the ones making the custom kernels, right?

Off topic- Are you trying to be part of that "project" that they have for the Bionic? I hope you are! :D

Was FXZ leaked by Motorola or Verizon? Did it really get leaked in September? If it did, why did it take two months to find out about it?

Two months? Try like 7 days. If that. It was the very original method for reverting back to stock, and the links are still in my signature even now (because I'm too lazy to change them to more current links for the leaked updates).

Here is a writeup about it on the net - dated 15 Sept 2011 - http://theandroidsite.com/2011/09/1...motorola-droid-bionic-back-to-stock-firmware/

Good point - please reply to that thread and say just that!

And, yes, I think I'm a part of that project - I got the soak notification, but I've PM'd Matt an told him that I applied the leak updates, and am awaiting to see if that will nullify me or not.

Thanks John,

Let me know if you find something out with signing up as a moto developer.

I'll definitely keep the forum informed. If it comes to actually doing so, I suppose I'll need an idea for an app....

I'm new ... I never heard of FXZ until you pointed me there ... for those who want to return to factory so they can return their Bionic it seems (based on what I read) the only way to get rid of everything and go back to factory.

So ... this was apparetly released by Motorola and it completly removes all traces of "fiddling" making it impossible for Verizon to ever know ... very interesting.

Three immediate rteferences on the date ...

Lol - I forget how long you've been with us - to me it seems you've been here since day 1 (aka 8 Sept 2011).

My bad.

I've been here a while.

There is as you well know no "ready reference" and the infromation keeps arriving piecmeal. The jargon that was adopted and basterdized to talk about it also doesn;t help.

The fact that Motorla released it and it removes all traces of fiddling is one of the strongest arguments you have for the uselessness of locking.

The rhetoric needs to be put aside and a business case has to be made for why Verizon should do it. "it would be nice to have" is not a reason.
