Three inTouch app

Basically it's a UK carrier app that let's you do calls and text over wifi when connected and takes the munutes/sms out of your plan.
So I just installed it but I'm confused whether I need to use the app's built-in dialer to make calls over wifi or if they'll go through the stock dialer via wifi when I'm connected?

Isn't that akin to the hangouts app and making calls/text over wifi or am I having a total brain fart?

Kinda the same I suppose but it uses your own phone number (does Hangouts do that?) idk tbh lol

Umm the vid wasn't very definitive... Like it tells you how to dial and text through the app but I'm not sure whether it works in the background and just routs your calls/sms via wifi or if I have to do them through the app.
Also the app description says it will use wifi when you have no cell signal but what if I have a (weak) cell signal but I'm connected to wifi?

Think I'm gonna have to go against the grain and do my own groundwork lol
