Help Thrill calendar trouble

OK hive mind, First of let me say I am new to android phones. I purchased a thrill yesterday and everything seems good on it. Unfortunantly I am not able to access my calendar, When I open the calendar app and attempt to add an apointmant I get and error message of " No Calendars, You have no calendars" If I go into my menu and into calendars, the screen is empty IE: no calendars.

As I stated this is a brand new LG Thrill running android 2.2.2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

YUP had a gmail account, was able to download apps from the market place. I took the phone back to the ATT store and they did a hard reset on it and solved the problem. Stated that they have never whitnessed that problem.. Oh well. It is solved.
