Thrive will not do Pogo Games

I have tried to play some games in Pogo but I havent been sucessful yet.

What I know is that android tablets that are java enabled and have flashplayer are supposed to play the Pogo Games. I have a tablet with Android 2.3 on it and have no problem using Pogo at all.

What happens with my Thrive is the Pogo Game will load all the way to where I have to press the "Start" button, after I do there there is a momentary pause, a white flash on the screen of less than a second and then the game is locked up. Frozen.. I have tried every web browser I have found on the Market Place, and some of them wont even load the Pogo Games, a few of them have said " Java is needed to play this game" and others have said " You need Flashplayer to play this game" and of course I have Flashplayer, and the Thrive is Java enabled.

Can someone help me out here? Is there a setting I am missing somewhere? My friend has a Motorola Xoom, and he uses Pogo games all the time, and he runs Android 3.1 on the Xoom, so I know the OS is capable of it.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated, I use Pogo word games a lot and feel a bit disappointed that the Toshiba will not do them.

Thanks,

I am having the same problem with my thrive. I got into wordwomp but it ran really slow and the whole screen didn't load. I really like the thrive but i am very disappointed that Pogo does not run. It is my favorite gaming site. I hope someone can figure out how to get Pogo to work on the Thrive.

I'm not going to give up on the Thrive I know there must be a setting or something that will get it going in Pogo. I play Word Womp a lot its one of my favorites. My Word Womp game loads up I use the stock browser that came on the Thrive, and I get the entire screen loaded, just when I press Start, is when it locks up. Some browsers I tried wont even get you that far, so I'm suspecting it may be something to do with the web browser itself. One browser says you need java, another one says you need flashplayer, and some browsers start loading the game but then where the game screen is there is a blank area, nothing on it no text no graphics, so I'm really thinking the browser has a lot to do with it.

I'm not sure if anyone who has rooted the Thrive has tried to do a Pogo Game or not, I havent seen any response from rooted users yet.

I do have a way to play Pogo on the Thrive and that is by using a remote desktop. If you want to remote your PC from your Thrive then you can use something like Pocket Cloud, or one of the other remote apps from the Market. I use Pocket Cloud, and as long as my PC is on, I can access it from anywhere that I have a wifi access. I log into my PC from the Thrive, and I can do anything from the Thrive that I can do if I were sitting at the PC. I had to Google search Pocket Cloud because it was not on the Market Place, but there is a link out there for it, and one part gets installed on your PC, the other on the Thrive. Remote Desktop is another good app to use for remote pc work. So what I have been doing is just leave the PC on and open Pocket Cloud on my Thrive and I play Pogo or anything else.

So, I can play Pogo all I want if I use the Remote Desktop, and there isn't any lag in the games but I would like to be able to play Pogo without using Remote Desktop.

I tried loading Pocketcloud and ran into all kinds of problems. It loaded to the Thrive with no problems. But my laptop blocked the program. My laptop is a Toshiba satellite E305 and uses windows seven. After searching the web and trying all the fixes for the laptop to allow it to run. I gave up and searched for another free program to try. I found TeamViewer from the Market It was very easy to install. It linked to my laptop with no problems at all. Windows 7 firewall was blocking Pocketcloud.

Pogo loaded fully. It didn't freeze or lock up and I could use the chat option. The games ran but too slow and it was hard to move the cursor. :( I like to play Wordwomp and you have to be able to move the cursor fast. The tablet had such slow response that I still can't play.

I also have Windows 7 on my Dell Laptop, and have no problems with Pocket Cloud. I think when I installed the PC portion of it I had to make some adjustments to the Firewall, to allow Pocket Cloud to run on the computer.

It was giving me error when I first installed it, but after about 20 minutes of reading an trying settings I was able to get it working. I had to enable a few services in Windows such as Remote desktop access, and a couple other services, but it does work now, and there is very little lag its almost not noticeable. Pocket Cloud has a small circular thing on the screen when you're using it on the Thrive, and thats a mouse arrow, and has a button you press, which is like right and left mouse controls.

When I'm using Word Womp on my Thrive I just touch the letters I want and press the Enter thing on the screen, it works better for me than using the mouse I can press the letters real fast.

I think Pocket Cloud has a good tutorial on setup, its online if I remember correctly. The games were not slow on my Thrive at all, they were just about normal speed. For me, playing Pogo remotely works out well, but I'm going to contact Toshiba and find out why it does not work without remoting it. If I get a positive answer I'll post here on how to fix it .

Who knows, the tablet might need to be rooted to play Pogo I dont know yet.
