Help Thumbnails of deleted photos staying in folder

Hi All,

I deleted some photos from my android phone using the delete function from the gallery viewer. However, when I connect my phone to my PC, the thumbnail folder still has visible thumbnails of the pics. It seems to keep the thumbnails every time. It's very frustrating and some of the stuff I have is confidential, and it's a must that the traces get removed.

I've searched around the forums and didn't find much, except that an app called Astro can delete thumbnails, but is it automatic? and does it do every time? I don't want to manually clear the thumbnail folder all the time.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm of the mindset that, if you don't want somebody else to see/steal something, don't put it where it can be easily seen/stolen.... with convenience comes lack of security... I think quite a few celebrities have learned that lesson.

But as to your question, "astro file manager" can give you access to and let you delete your thumbnail caches, I'm not aware of any app that automates the process, although one probably exists.

An easier solution would be just to password protect your phone, and keep your images stored on the internal storage, not the sd card.

thanks for the reply.
I will try the astro file manager when I get home and I'll see if I can find a way for it to delete thumbnail caches everytime you delete pics.

Thank you for the information. My friend had a similar problem. It took me forever to find this helpful post. I was searching for keywords like Gallery, Video, Cashe, and Preview. The correct search term is Thumbnail or Thumbnails.

Lets say you had a friend that downloaded an X-Rated video on this phone. Watched it, deleted it, deleted his broswer cashe, and broswer history. Then later on that day (or any following day), recorded a family video, selected Gallery, selected a photo BEFORE the video, swiped the screen to the right to move to the family video, and BAM! X-Rated thumbnail of the deleted video. NOT COOL !!!

Does this happen everytime? Yes, try it at your own risk.

Solution: Download Astro File Manager. Open it. Select sdcard (if not already selected), DCIM, .thumbnails, (this could be different depending upon your phone), then depress the Menu key, select EDIT, SELECT ALL, then DELETE.

This deletes all the thumbnails. Don't worry. When you open Gallery everything works fine and it makes new thumbnails when you open your Gallery folders.

PS: I'm glad I was not my friend :-(
