I picked up a thunderbolt for 40 bucks . I rooted and the rest we know, so I loaded ics on it and man it out performs my spec. Man I can't wait until the badass Devs we have; get a legit copy of it for the spec
 
I'm guessing that's just perspective, because the Spec is superior to the Thunderbolt in almost all ways: Compare Phones (Phone Scoop)

Larger battery, more RAM, newer & faster processor, lighter, HD (720x1280) screen (compared to 480x800). The only place where the Spec is deficient, is it doesn't have an FM radio receiver and has less board RAM, but neither affects performance.
 
You're not getting it, specs don't mean anything when compared to the executing of apps, bootup and being able to use your phone right after bootup.
 
I see what people are talking about now; this was my first taste of ics and I love it, in every aspect .

Lol wut? What do you think determines those actions? The hardware, which, as I said, is superior in the Spec. Don't get me wrong, the thunderbolt is a great phone and I considered getting one before I got the spec, but it's not superior to the spectrum. I'm glad to hear you have a positive experience with it, though.

When the spec gets ics, you'll find it performs as well... It's has better app execution and caching than gb, which could explain your perceived performance improvements.
 
Why do you think I said "I cant wait for the badass devs we have to get a legit copy of ics". We are comparing g.b to ics and single core to dual. I believe this comes down to a software comparison .
 
Once the modded ics for the spec is released , I don't think I'll need a new phone for awhile . Unless something hits big red with a five inch hd screen.
 
Honestly, I think the Spec's screen is as big as I want for a phone. I have a tablet and if screens get any bigger, we're going to end up with the old PDA phones.
 
I want another tablet, but give me the five inch hd screen , HDMI out, and something like webtop. I would have a winner.
 
I agree with the OP that a 5" screen would be nice but this is mainly because of how I use my phone for work. For the average user a 5" screen would be annoying. My better half hates larger screens and when she has used my phone complains "it's like holding a VCR to your face".

Like MrB said, the Nexus 7 is a great option if you're looking for a nice tablet with a decent sized screen. I recently purchased one and I am sure I will be rooting and mucking with it quite soon. Further, you can get wifi tether for root users or FoxFi and there you go, you now have data connectivity to your tablet.
 
I was seriously thinking about the 7 until my buddy gave me his transformer 300. It's small and cost effective, so if you don't need some quad core monster, the nex7 is perfect.
 
I'm using a Nook Color. Benn running CM7 for a couple of years and love it. I'm testing out CM9 on it now, it's a bit buggy, and a little laggy, but it's slick.
 
Naa I don't need quad core but wouldn't mind it either, I want that rumored Toshiba 13.1 inch tablet. Especially since Microsoft office is officially coming to android.

I'm not big on flashing nightly's every day, i'm about a week behind in the updates. I use it for business so i'm sketchy on updates lol. I've got to reboot it more often, it locks up a bit more, things don't load as fast, but i'm also using the opengl version because i don't know the differences between them.
 
Look into the transformer 300T. I've got one with cm10 (jb) on it and love it. Stock sucks on it, but most stock roms do, so it's no shocker. If you want a mobile data version, I believe the tg model has it.
 
my NC is the main reason i'm rooted so i can use wifi teather. I'm pretty happy with my NC, and i'm starting to use it less and less as a tablet and more and more reading on it. My spec's picked up a lot of the apps i've used in the past, with the bigger screen.
 
I use my rooted nook tablet 16gb for pretty much everything I've cut 60% or more of the apps off my phone to use on the NT instead. I want a galaxy note 2, but it may never come to big red.

I've also considered swapping my NT out for a kindle fire hd once they get rooted. I may not flash a Rom on it, but I would want it rooted.

I like being able to drop my NT in a cargo short pocket, but miss my old 10" Adam tablet screen size. My vision has been getting worse and the larger size helps a bunch.
 
Fin, i got the NC when i was using the LG Ally, crap screen size and crap for memory. One of the biggest reason's i'm pulling away from that is the signature app i found doesn't function unless it's connected to the internet, and it's buggy on ICS. I'm thinking about going back to GB to get functionality back
 
Another cheap, yet good tablet option is an original Kindle Fire and put JB on it. I have one and it blazes with JB.
