Help thunderbolt slowing down... OS lagging badly?

My thunderbolt keeps slowing down really bad.... I have a task manager app that I use constantly.... I go into manage apps and force close anything I do not need... I only have maybe 5 or 6 apps installed from market... I reset phone every day.... But it continues to bog down! When I notice it is slow I go into app manager n kill apps... It says 0 apps running 280-320mb most of the time..... Sometimes it will be as low as 120, that does not sound rite! I had an incredible and it was always over 160mb usually around 230mb. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe phone is defective? And it usually only takes about 10th minutes to slow down, as im typing now it is lagging.... Before I started this post I hit app killer n the phone is already slowed down... Reset phone? Get rid of apps? Any suggestions would be great, thanks! Not too happy with this phone so far!

Task mangers, when used wrong can cause a lot of problems. You have an app that is malfunctioning.

I would start by disabling the task manger and do a reboot, if that does not work, uninstall one by one the apps you downloaded. reboot and see if it changes anything.

If that does not work. Open up your built in task manager and start killing the bloatware that is pre-installed on your phone.

Once you find the problem app, use task killer to only kill bloatware apps. Do not use the task killer to kill anything but bloatware apps.

fist off, remove the task killer app. it's not worth it. you have a bad app or something. i got a replacement tbolt and have really been monitoring how my phone reacts so if i ever have a similar issue, i can pinpoint it.

another thing. really go through what apps you have and simply uninstall the ones you don't use. we all have a bunch of apps that we have that we think are cool but never really use them. i'm sorry you're having such a bad experience but would love to help you resolve the issue

Disable the Task Manager, then uninstall it ASAP. It's killing system processes that are crucial to your phone running smoothly... that is the only reason your phone is lagging

You do not need a Task Manager...

The task killer is not completely evil. If you use it responsibly it can dramaticly increase your battery life on a unrooted phone.

Because the android operating system is great at managing itself, task killers are not really needed. But if your phone is not rooted, android is very poor at managing the bloatware that is included.

When that bloatware that is included with your phone starts to malfunction, and it always does, it can destroy your battery life. Your two options in dealing with that uninstallable bloatware is a task manager or rooting. Rooting will destroy your warranty and make your insurance pointless. So task managers are the only thing you can do to keep the bloatware in line and your phone running at maximal efficiency.

Once again, only kill the apps that you don't have a choice on and don't want running in the back ground. Amazon mp3 is the number 1 misbehaving app an the htc evo. If you do not kill the app, every time it restarts it self, your battery will get drained about 10% every hour. There is no way to deal with amazon mp3 app except task managers. You could use the built in task manager, but amazon mp3 will restart itself, every time you visit a website with mp3 title on it, or start your music player.

If anyone here can tell me how to deal with the bloatware with out rooting, please do. But until that time, just install and use the task killer carefully.

@riverofice: the only things i know you can do are disable updates in the blockbuster app and uninstall citi id (or whatever it's called). you can do so by actually opening the citi id app and following the set up but decline everything. eventually it'll ask if you want it removed.

Bloatware is a pain in the pooper. Only disable bloatware with task manager, set up auto kill every half hour to kill the bloat. Turn off background, sync, and animations. Turn off screen auto brightness and turn brightness down a few levels. Manually check email and weather no need for them to be updating all the time. this will speed up that little booger and help with battery, also keep a charger close by, throw it in an otterbox defender case and you are golden honey.

There shouldn't be any need for the above measures.

If you can't find the cause, a wipe isn't a bad idea. You can then verify if it's a problem with the device or apps you've installed.

Are you using the gingerbread keyboard from the market? I know when I had that my typing would bog down bad. Plus get rid of the task killer.

Thank you everyone for all the suggestions, I am going to get rid of everything except for pewpew, its my new addictions. You are right, I have useless apps i DO NOT and WILL NOT ever use. If uninstalls don't work I will then move onto resting the phone, again thanks for the replies and help! Much appreciated!!!

Nope not using gingerbread. I'll let everyone know how I make out with the app uninstalls and hopefully ill be able to pinpoint it to 1 particular app.

Try an App called Android booster in the market. It's a task manager, but it seems to be pretty good. In fact I haven't had it screw up a phone. It's a gem.
