Thunderbolt vs Bionic vs Revolution

I was wondering if I should wait for the Revolution or bionic to come out or just get a thunderbolt? I have had my upgrade since august of 2010. Never had an android phone, but always wanted one. I have the LG dare and it held up quiet nicely. Now I like LG since my phone went through hell and thought maybe the Revolution is a good choice, but now there are a few thing about it I hear people saying are not good about it.
1. only has 5MP camera
2. only 1gig internal memory.
3. LG bad reputation on smart phones.

The good
1. HDMI out
2. VoLET
3. stock android

Now people have been saying that the Revolution it almost the same as the thunderbolt and waiting for it is a waste. So what should I do? maybe wait for the Bionic?

One last thing I am in no rush to get a phone. I can wait for a phone to come out.

i'm waiting.... you might get a better data plan now, but the longer you wait the better the phones get.

That is what I was thinking, but I am not sure if there really is a benifit to waiting or not. That is the only thing I am trying to figure out right now.

i have an LG Ally, CHEAP, weak and slow android phone by lg. and considering that, this thing isnt bad at all. get what you paid for. im actually very happy with it. been rooted and running a custom rom to make up for what the hardware lacks. runs as well as some higher end phones stock, and based on all the chatter in the nice little ally community here i wouldnt say lg makes "bad" or "unreliable" smartphones.

but for your first android phone, i dont think there will be too much of a difference for you since all 3 are the brand new here and now, and as for waiting. yes at the end of the year better phones will be out. but the way things move now no matter what your phone will be a little outdated in 6 months.

personally id go with htc since they are all about android, htc sense is way cool. and for me its important that it plays well with Root and htcs usually do. motorola is pretty determined not to (devs still get it). but that wont come into play for everybody. but the specs are very similar it will come down to one or 2 small features that makes the difference. like HDMI ect.

I was excited about the Thunderbolt but when I went to Verizon to look at it I realized how HUGE it is. It's wider than the Droid X. WAY too huge to carry around...
More like a tri-corder than a cell phone ;)

hmmm when I held my Droid X directly up to a Thunderbolt yesterday it seemed thinner, smoother, and seemed like it would be easier to pocket than the X.
Maybe I had different editions of each in my hands?

I tried the thunderbolt yesterday at a VZW store and felt the touch response to be not so great. Swiping up/down to see the various apps seemed to not respond as well, and then I realized I wasnt pressing hard enough on the screen when swiping.
In contrast, if I did the same thing in a browser to move the page up/down everything worked fine. I noticed the same inside other apps.

So basically inside the apps finger swiping worked fine, but when doing the same outside the apps in the app lists didnt work as good.

I tried the same with a thunderbolt that the VZW rep had in his hand. Same issue, though the response was slightly better with his phone, but still not as good when inside the apps. The only difference between his phone and the one on display was that he had a screen protector on his. Not sure how that would make the response slightly better but it did.

The LTE network is definitely faster though. This is all in comparison to my current iPhone, which I'm looking to get rid of for a 4.3" android LTE device :)

Overall not too impressed with the Thunderbolt as I was hoping I'd be.

I have tried the DroidX and have to say the interaction seems to be a lot better on it. So I guess I'll be waiting for the Bionic and hope that'll do it for me :)

I have the same question. I'm upgrading from the Storm1, so any of the android phones are blazing fast even with "only" 3G. The only other thing I'd add to the conversation is that I'm really leaning towards the Samsung Droid Charge for a couple of reasons. After playing with the Fascinate in the store, Samsung's screens are just beautiful, and the Charge comes with the Super AMOLED screen, which should improve upon the Fascinate. The other reason is that it's "release date" shows as next week on that road map.

Any opinions on this vs the Revolution or the Thunderbolt?

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT THINK OF BUYING THE Samsung (droid) Stealth at all. First Samsung never updates there phones once they release them. Regardless of the screen and build if they do not care about there customer then why should I support them.

Now onto the Stealth. It is a joke of a phone. There is nothing special about it at all and in my option is a really ugly looking phone. If you look at these specs they will show that the sealth is basically the same phone has the fascinate. Only real differance is the sealth is 4.3 inches and the fascinate is 4inches. Also Stealth has LTE

Also they want to charge the customers 300 bucks for this. I mean GIVE ME ****ING BREAK!!!! This phone is not worth 300 bucks at all. The only thing this has that is really different then lets say the Thunderbolt is the screen, sense, and skins. Still not worth the extra 50-100 for this over the Thunderbolt. I would say wait till the LG Revolution or Moto Bionic if you do not like the Thunderbolt.

One last thing is if you read that roadmap and actually believe what it tells you then you will see that there is another Samsung phone coming out and if you really have to have a Samsung or just like them regardless of all the crap they put there customers through then wait till that. It will be a duel core (I think of it is the Galaxy 2 phone) and the phone will be a new technology and not just an updated older phone made for LTE.

Samsung has a bad record, but for the sake of acuracy: The stealth does not use a pentile matrix screen like the Fascinate so the screen is much sharper. The new screen also uses 80% less power.

One point on the Revolution. It is the only phone announced that is guarranteed to work with the streaming Netflix app.

Even those Netflix app is on the LG Revolution it is still iffy if the phone will be anything special. From spec wise just looks like a thunderbolt with stock android and a crappy Camera.

So obviously tuggy is really biased against Samsung.

Does anyone else have any opinions about it. Exactly how late are they with upgrades? Is it something they don't do at all or does it just take them a long time? I was thinking about getting the charge this week (if there is a rebate attached to that $300 tag. I love Samsung screens. Considering I'm coming from an LG Touch, even with an outdated OS, the Charge would be a huge step up for me. If it takes them a little longer to go to 2.3, I won't be too bothered, but it would be annoying if they never actually did it.

Read this and this should sum it right up how I feel about samsung phone company.
Where Is The Samsung Fascinate Froyo Update? - San Francisco Gadgets | Examiner.com
Second Samsung does everything else a lot better or best like TV's, monitors, digital cameras, DVDs, VCRs and audio systems, but there phone part of there company sucks monkey ****!

There is a difference between saying "They are slow updating their phones" and saying "Their phones are crap." That link expressed the former sentiment. Your previous post did a little of both of those. You make it seem like the Charge is a rerelease of the Fascinate when it isn't. Sure a lot of specs of the same, but there are some key differences. Not only that, but the specs for the Charge are in line with those of the Thunderbolt and Revolution, so it's clearly comparable to the first wave of Verizon 4G Phones. Perhaps the Droid Bionic and iPhone 5 will blow it out of the water, but that's why they are also releasing the Galaxy S2.

To put it show, you're not giving a very objective stance. The Samsung Charge looks like it will be a decent device with some strong points such as the Super AMOLED+ screen. The slow upgrades could definitely be a problem for some, but it might not matter much at all to others.

Well I was making both points as in waiting for the next samsung phone to come out if you really want a samsung. Why get older technolgy when the same company is going to release a better one in a month or two so I hear. That is all I am trying to say. Also the cell phone division blows and they do not like there customers. I made all my points clear to you how I feel about them so take it or leave it. It is all just personal options and if you disagree that is fine. I am always hanging with my uncle and he had numerouse samsung cell phones and had bad luck with all of them. They called them up to tell them about the problems and they said that he must of done something to them for them to malfunction the way they are. So I say **** them.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm not saying you're wrong. I was just pointing out that you have a clear bias against Samsung and their phones, so you're opinion might not be the most objective one in this area.

If you need a phone now, you might not have until mid summer to wait for the Galaxy S2 or even early summer for the Moto Bionic. Regardless of the Charge employing old tech, it's still good tech and capable of meeting the needs of a lot of people. So while someone like yourself who may have needs that require cutting edge devices might want to wait, the phone will very likely serve the needs of a large contingent of customers very well. Now if you were arguing from the standpoing of the pricing, I'm with you. It doesn't really make much sense for this phone to come out and be $50 more than the Thunderbolt when they both are pretty comparable.

Actually, phones take a little bit longer then 2 months to be released, after its announced. And samsung arnt slow with updates. Only in the US it is. The galaxy s in europe and asia already has froyo and they have a leak gingerbread rom. The Samsung Droid Charge will appeal to people who dont care about updates but want the Superb 4G LTE speeds. Unlike you, who must need top notch specs. Technology wont slow down. Most likely itll speed up. Youll never be satisfied. And the rumored Motorola Targa that is supposedly to be released in December will kill all the previous phones. If you dont like Samsung, then just dont get it. A lot of people like samsung phones. You just arent one of those people. My mom likes their phones. The world doesnt revolve around you, it revolves around the axis? Idk...

I do not need a top of the line phone. I mean verizon never has the top of the line phone. Only ones that are comparable but not better. Right now I am waiting for the LG Revolution or the moto bionic.
I am just trying to save someone from having the same problems a lot of people have had with samsung. I may be bias about the company because of business practices and the problems my uncle had with his phones. So That is why I do not like samsung cell phones. Other then that the company is great.

I get what you're saying. It's all good. I'm seriously considering getting the Charge because I love the AMOLED screen. This is my first true smart phone so I won't be quite as sensitive to the lack updates considering the phone just had didn't update anything and didn't offer much at all. I say considering because the price is too steep. If they don't have some type of rebate that takes it down to at least the price of the Thunderbolt, I'll be waiting for the Bionic or settling for a Thunderbolt. I'm not really to interested in the Revolution. It's specs don't really seem comparable to the others, but maybe I've been looking at old data.

Edit: Found this a lil while ago.

It gives a side to side comparison of several phones that are out or due out soon for Verizon. I'm not sure how accurate the specs for the phones that aren't out yet are. Seems the TB has the most RAM out of all of them with 758 MB. It also seems to be the only one that comes preloaded with the 32 GB SD card. Has anyone pushed any limitation with 512 RAM? I'm curious since all the other 4G phones have that amount.
