Accessories Time for a D2G case (w/ extended batt)

Hey all,

So, I finally dropped my D2G and I can't stand the marks the drop left. I am awaiting an extended battery (Amazon dealer AccessoryOne takes forever...) and need a case.

I am looking for something that will cover the scratches which are on the side and top bezel of the phone. Nothing too heavy duty, it needs to support the extended battery and I would prefer to keep it cheap (<$20).

Any suggestions?

Seidio Innocase. There's only a very few cases for the D2G that are any good:

The Seidio, The Otterbox, and the Body Glove.

The BG is SUPER durable, very nice, very thick, and very sturdy. Its got rubber outside for excellent grip, and they'll protect from damn near anything. My favorite feature is the soft touch felt on the inside, to protect your phone's finish. Unfortunately, they're also very big and bulky.

The Otterbox has mixed reviews online. They usually make a good product, but some complain about the fit/finish of the current case (it was just released).

The Seidio is the best compromise between looks and function that I could find. The soft touch finish looks good, and stays clean, while providing a nice feel. Everything fit right (the hard case from verizon was loose and seemed very likely to scratch my phone), all the cutouts are there (secondary mic, speaker, charging LED, etc). It's thin and light but provides a reasonable amount of protection. My only gripe is that the inside is not lined with a soft touch felt like the Body Glove.

To use just about any case, you'll have to pull the battery door off of your phone. Don't worry, with the BP7X, it's a perfect fit, because the battery sits pretty much exactly where the stock battery door did. I've been doing this for about a month now, with no problems.

I will definitely consider it. The thing is, I already ordered the backplate for the extended battery and have been having issues with the dealer through Amazon. It should have shipped last week and hasn't, they haven't replied to any emails, I can't cancel the order, and don't want to deal with returns. In essence, I wasted $11 on the battery door, and would prefer to use it if possible... otherwise I would probably go Seido. Thats probably what I will be forced to do :(

Well, you won't be able to use that door with ANY case, as far as I'm aware. Nobody makes a case specifically for the D2 or D2G with extended battery, and that battery door sticks out so far that it strains the clips on any case I've tried so far, to the point that they won't stay on. Just a heads up. If it makes you feel better, I went to the VZW store and swapped out my Droid2 extended battery (which comes with a grey door) for a Droid2 R2D2 extended battery, which comes with a white battery door, even though I never really intend to take my case off. Also, while I was at the VZW store, I noticed their clear plastic cases for the D2 are on clearance for $9.97.. You could go by a store and see if they've got any cases you like on clearance. Just be aware that the cases they sell are complete crap, IMHO.

NGFL thanks so much for your help. I ordered the Seido Innocase and it will be here Thursday. AccessoryOne just now told me the battery is on back order (although it was in stock the day I bought it through a few days ago). They are a week delinquent on shipping these items. I hope they will cancel the order as I requested and I can just order the battery itself since I won't need the door. I can find these batteries around ~$30 outside of VZW so I am going to keep looking.

Thanks again!

I must say I really dig the Seido Innocase. It is a sleek design, doesn't add much bulk to the phone. It is a hard case with a rubber feel, real easy to get out of your pocket (even denim) and it adds a good amount of grip.

Anyone on the fence, I hope this helps. Amazing case!

Glad to help. I know I wasted a lot of time buying and returning cases, because everything else on the market sucks haha, just figured i'd save you some time. I'm looking at mine and wondering if I can bust the dremel out to make the door fit. My dream is to carve a design into the case, so the beautiful white phone can partially shine through. But that only works if I can make the battery door fit somehow.

I just got a blue shiny case from the Verizon store. Unfortunately, I threw the box away already. It comes in blue, red and clear.

BG is terrible IMO. Put one on in the phone store when I got my D2G. Next day, carefully removed it just like I have on numerous old phones with no issue, and one of the tabs on the screen portion broke off. Another snapped a day later. Took the phone back to the phone store and a different cashier knew immediately what happened, she had a lot of complaints about that. I didn't even have the screen portion of the case with me, she gave me a different case. My dad had the same problem with his regular ol samsung phone.

Be careful. I bought two of those hard plastic cases from VZW, and they suck balls. They're hard plastic, fit loosely, and seem like they're DESIGNED to scratch your phone.

I was/am looking for cases for my phone. I have the Body glove hard cover case and my wife hase the gel case both were purchased at the Verizon store. I am really unhappy wit both of them. I love the Media dock and the GPS function on my phone. I really hate having to take it out of the case everytime you want to use it in a dockingstation. Is therre a case out there that would fit my needs? I have herd about the seido case, but i really don't want to spend anymore money on cases just to have them sitting in my drawer at home.
