Time for an upgrade...and just don't know what to do.

I kinda like the DNA...But then I kinda want to wait for the Moto X, if only they would let me know exactly when to expect the X to be released.

Current phone is a RAZR Maxx by the way....the original.....great phone, but the battery beginning to show its age and not last as long as it once did.

I have the note 2 and the DNA, and I love the note 2. As far as future phones are concerned, I'm keeping an eye on the rumored HTC phablet (codename t6.)

I'm sure the Note 2 is great...but that's just too big for my uses.

4.3-4.7" of screen is all I want...I'm a heavy haul truck driver and really need it to fit in a shirt pocket.

Fwiw my note 2 fits in the shirt pocket of my work shirt, although it will stick out a little. You may want to check out the htc one when it's released on Verizon later this summer..it's got the 4.7" screen you're looking for, but because of the front facing speakers it will be just about the same size as the DNA.

Verizon announced they are getting the one later this summer. Based on past experience, I would say mid September, as that is as late in the summer as you can get :p

I'm in your situation as well. I was using a Pantech Breakout unitl that crapped out on me. I bought a cheap OG Moto Droid first gen for $25 on fleabay. I'm up for an upgrade in July. I don't have the money to shell out for the Galaxy S4. I'm not sure if the Droid DNA is worth it for me. The HTC One on Verizon will probably cost an arm and a leg.

I think that the Moto X phone is a strong possiblity, I think I read that they were shooting for a mid-range pricepoint of $350. I am definately not getting another Pantech phone. I'm not sure about the Droid Razr M. The next choice is to go with the SGS3.

So, unless Verizon has a massive sale on the HTC One or SGS4, it's between holding out for the Moto X or going with the SGS3 (which will be rooted and ROMed right out the box).

I would consider switching carriers at this point, but for my area Verizon is the most reliable network.

I too am up for an upgrade.. no real issues with my RAZR MAXX yet, but my wife is complaining about battery life on her RAZR. She has another year, so I told her I could upgrade but there really isn't anything.. I could get a RAZR MAXX HD as I don't like 16gig only S4. I also need to have a rooted phone to work with my AppRadio 2 and ARliberator..

I just don't want to waste an upgrade and in my position I would be concerned that if I wait for the Moto X it will not be able to be rooted..

Front facing speakers...now thats something I can use (I watch a lot of movies on my phone, and my hearing ain't so good anymore)

I'll have to do some homework on the "One".

I got my upgrade...its a Maxx HD...the Maxx was a great phone...so I figure the HD version will be too.

The onboard storage sold me on it...that's something I have to have, for work.

Folks,
I've already gotten my upgrade...I got a Maxx HD.

The HTC One and the new Samsung all felt cheap and fragile to me...I'm really rough on stuff, so I stuck with build quality over "latest and greatest"...I'm satisfied with my choice, the Maxx's are great phones.

One of the factors for me as well to get a RMHD. I first ordered the DNA but was out later in the day and stopped in and got to hold it and I didn't like the way it felt and I wanted battery life and removable storage and I think the Razr Maxx HD is just built better.

A leaked document indicates the HTC One with a release date of August 1st and the Moto X August 23d. I am eligible to upgrade on August 29. This is going to make for tough decision.

I thought I read somewhere that the Droid Ultras are coming out in Aug/Sept timeframe. I could be mistaken, can anyone help me out here? Maybe it was that they were going to be announced then.

+1 the Note 2 does fit in your shirt pocket. But it is noticeably heavier than my current Samsung S3. I guess it's that big battery to power that big screen.

If you're not a tech wiz and don't need the fastest best phone out there, I'd recommend the Casio Commando LTE. I had the 3G Commando while I was in the army, and that thing was perfect. I could low crawl through mud, have my pockets fill with sand, and climb mountains with that thing in my pocket and not have to worry about a thing.
I mean, it was the phone to have if you had a manly man job and you were going to be getting down and dirty.
The ONLY problem it had was it was hampered by VZW bloat. Updates didn't fix anything, they just added more bloat, so I had to root it to get rid the bloat.
