Time Served on my Hero/Design (HTC Kingdom)

Android Enthusiast
So I escaped from what to me was like a prison yesterday traded my HTC Kingdom (Hero S/Design 4G) for a Galaxy Nexus I'm now rooted and running Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and I couldn't be happier. Every since I started with Android at the end of January 2011 I went from device to device (over 15 in 2011 alone) to device all with very vibrant dev community's. That is until I landed on the HTC Kingdom in late December I immediately fell in love with the Beautiful hardware prior to that my favorite device of 2011 was the HTC Droid Incredible 2 which was a splendid one handed use device that had AOSP ICS Roms in December and on into January when I decided to sell it because I bought 5 new AT&T devices. I really liked the 2 Atrix 2's but also fell in love with the software and the feel of the Nexus S (screen was terrible device was laggy and it had 256mb less Rom the my Kingdom) so I wound up selling all the AT&T phones in February reluctantly selling the Nexus S with ICS 4.0.3. During March and April I had two more devices the Boost Samsung Replenish (Pure garbage [actually even made from garbage ironically]) and the ZTE Score which I picked up at Best Buy for $29.99 on sale and sold for $55 on Craigslist I had a ton of people wanting that device I was pretty busy partying that month so it took me awhile to actually reply to one of them and sell it. Anyway those two devices were only fun to Root and use as Wifi Hotspots for my Kingdom. I was growing increasingly bored of my Kingdom which even into April I hadn't bothered Rooting (I had all 20 other prior Androids I owned between Jan11 and Apr12). I was dying for some ICS and finally in late April we got the Boost Designs first ICS leak Rooted installed recovery and loaded it up right away. It was laggy I tried to love it but it basically sucked Gingerbread was faster but I didn't go back and we soon got another leak and Cheney1 installed Chainfire3D drivers on it (drivers that speed up the GPU). I stayed on that Rom until this past Friday night when I finally escaped what to me was the Prison of the unopen HTC Sense and traded to my new Galaxy Nexus. I immediately unlocked the bootloader Rooted and loaded up one of the purest of Stock Jelly Bean Roms and I've been in Android Heaven since.

Don't get me wrong the Kingdom is a great device software kinks will likely be worked out for those that are rooted thanks to guys like 2fast4u88, Saragon19, Grad, Apache Thunder, JayDog, Cookiefrog, Zombu2, and others but for the unrooted owner on stock ICS I really feel if your not new to Android or coming from an entry level device you'll never be happy because I don't think HTC will invest any more time/money into this device that's just how they historically play it and what you have now if you have stock is a bit laggier than Android should ever be (Gingerbread was faster).

What do I recommend? Well simply put either craigslisting your device or learning how to Root and install custom Roms in anticipation of the great things to come from your dedicated devs.

Sorry if this is all doom and gloom but I just wanted to poor my heart out to you guys ultimately its up to you what you need like and do or don't care about.

how long will you keep this one after new toy effect wears off. your post say you dont keep phones long. good luck to you

I think I'll be sticking with this one at least until a newer Nexus device comes out, I've never been content but I do feel I am now could be as you say the new toy affect but I don't think so. I have learned my lesson I don't want any other Android Phone unless it's a Nexus I don't need the best specs what I need is the best software and I've now got it. I couldn't be happier with this device "project butter" (Google war on lag in Jelly Bean) is absolutely astonishing this device flies no matter what I throw at it lag is gone, it's literally all its cracked up to be and so much more I'd seen all the reviews and videos and read about it all of the Android News sphere but it literally surprised my and went beyond all the hype.
