Time to upgrade my S3..

I have had my S3 for over a year and love it but it's starting to get slow and lag/become unresponsive randomly for no reason so I think it's time for an upgrade.

I'm not sure what I should upgrade to. I was thinking either the Galaxy S4 or a Note. Not sure if the Note will be too big, so I'm going to have a look at one tomorrow at the shops.

Is the S4 a big improvement from the S3? How does the note compare? Anything else I should look at?

I only really use my phone for work (lots of calls, emails and messages) and of course for Candy Crush! I also use the camera a fair bit for work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks

If you mostly just use the phone for calls and games, id just try to get the s3 working nicely. Itl just be a software thing.
I really like the Note 2 and to me it feels faster than the s4 to use. The s4 is a lot more powerful than the s3 but its wasted power at this point tbh.. software hasnt caught up with hardware yet imo. Also the s4 is really bogged down with fancy new features, you can only use half the internal memory because its so bloated. You should have a play with both. A year ago id have thought the note2 was too big but it seems fine now and i think it looks better than the s4

Thanks for such a quick reply and for your help. I might re-install the OS this weekend and see what difference that makes. I tried to clean up as much as I could so I'm not sure why it's being bogged down, but I'm sure a re-install should fix it..

I wouldn't mind a new phone though anyways! :D

Are there any new models of the Note/S4 being released soon?

I think the S4 is about tapped out in terms of variants, but I expect that the Note 3 will probably come out towards the end of the year.

If you can't fix it I'd say then get the GS4 32GB. Got my GS4 to replace my broken GS3 and so far I've been thoroughly happy with the S4, it's not a gigantic leap from the GS3 but, IMO, a worthy upgrade.

The S4's Display is miles better than both S3 and Note2's
UI is newer and more refined
Camera is much better with a whole new Camera UI and features
Better battery life than S3
More sold build quality
and a whole lot of new features and gimmicks to play with.

Overall, the GS4 is a nice step up. I see no point in going for Note2 now, the Note3 is going to be unveiled between Aug and Sept.

I leave work (12-hour shift) with 91% left after constant weather checks, email, and endless Play Music listening. Not sure how anything can be better unless the S4 can go 12 hours and still have 100%.

Well you dont seem to use your phone for anything intensive so i believe the galaxy S4 will be a wasted investment. Rather try to make your S3 more smoother or if you want to buy a new phone id suggest the Htc One or Xperia Z/ZL is the phone to go for. Coz you know there are other brands in the world besides Samsung.

Just factory reset the thing. Truth is for your usage even the S3 is in some ways wasted investment as it is overkill. I am doing a lot more on my S3 mini than you are on your S3. There's probably something you did unknowingly that caused the phone to lag eventually. Using task killers usually do this. They seem like they make the phone so fast for the first few weeks, then the phone stutters and lags because of continued use of task killers.

Or maybe your phone's memory is just filled up causing lag.

If you like to use the phone with one hand, take S4. Note 2 requires 2 hands to use it comfortably. And Note 2 feels rather heavy in mens pocket
