Timeriffic on Droid Razr Maxx problem

Hello all:
I recently discovered Timeriffic and it immediately became one of my favorite apps :). Was working perfectly until a few weeks ago when it suddenly stopped switching profiles at the designated times. I can go in and manually refresh but I've obviously lost significant functionality.

I searched online and found info which said this is probably due to the task manager stopping the app. Third-party task manager apps might give more control over this. I downloaded one ("Android Assistant") but like the native app it only seems able to kill apps, not enforce exceptions.

Entirely possible this is user-error but would appreciate any advice as I would love to get this app working again.

Thanks!

I use Timeriffic as well. Love it. Check the settings, within the app, and make sure its enabled. Then make sure that the profiles you created are checked with a green check mark. (Which turns on that profile.)

Thanks for the input - those settings appear to be correct: App enabled and profiles checked.

Any other ideas?

The only other thing I can think of is make sure its not on any Task Killer or Task Manager list. If not, uninstall and reinstall it. Let the developer know of your problem first. Might be something they have to fix for your type phone.

Strangely enough - the app now seems to be functioning correctly. The only change I can think of that might have affected is that I went in to the settings and disabled the app, then re-enabled (when itsallgood advised me to check those settings).

I uninstalled the 3rd-party task killer for good measure as I read that these are of dubious utility and can interfere with the app.

You guys are good :D

Great to hear! Let us know if you find any other issues.

OK, it seemed to be working again, then after I upgraded to ICS it suddenly started behaving strangely. It seems to switch profiles correctly but no longer mutes the notifications at night. I have read that for reasons only Google understands that they have forced a link between the ringer and the notification volume. Timeriffic now reports that these can't be changed separately.

My situation is that I need to mute all the spam, status updates and insomniac messages I get so that I can sleep at night. However if someone really, really needs to get in touch with me I need the phone to ring. Hence my admiration for Timeriffic and it's ability to control these settings.

I realize this was imposed by the Android engineers (if this is the case). But is it something that Timeriffic can code around in a future release? I'm back to muting the entire phone at night.

Thanks for the input!

That setting does not appear to exist on ICS 4.0.4 although I could be looking in the wrong place...

You can change the behavior by checking the new option in Menu > Settings > Experimental to unlink both volumes. The default is linked (for the stock ICS ROMs) and checking the option will make it work as before (e.g. if you have a Samsung S2 or a CM rom, for example.)

Let us know how that works for you.

dkaufman1: Changing the Menu > Settings > Experimental option seems to have fixed the problem! Been using the app all week and full functionality has resumed. If I forget about it that means it's working :D

Thank you for a second time :)

Thank you. That worked for me.

Hey guys - if you still get updated when this thread updates: I (foolishly) let my Razr Maxx install the Android 4.1.2 update and it seems to have broken Timeriffic. I've tried the fixes described in this thread and nothing seems to work - I can't mute notifications :(

It appears that this release has a lot of problems on the Razr Maxx. Next stable release I'm going to find a way to disable updates.

Of course we still monitor this post. Sorry to hear the troubles. What exactly is happening?

To better help us could you do the following...in Timeriffic, click Menu, Report Error. Note this issue again, this will help us better diagnose the trouble. We have had reports of various hardware and versions of Android OS causing issues and we are researching how that impacts our app. We hope when/if Android is updated it might correct some of those errors.
