Root Timespan for Emails ..

Hi .. I have a rooted HTC Desire .. Although I don't know if that's relevant. I'm almost sure, when I had the phone, I could choose how long a period that emails were displayed, 3 days, 1 week etc. problem is now, I can't find that setting, and every time I delete emails, it brings back another lot, getting progressively older. I'm now back to February, but since I've had this account since 2002, it may be never ending! It's a Yahoo account. As I already have a copy of all my mail already (on my PC) I only need a few days worth.

Depends what ROM you are on. The default HTC email application has these settings, but I dont think the stock android one does, so if you're on a non-sense ROM (AOSP based) You probablyl haven't got this setting.

If you're on a AOSP ROM and using Gmail -

open Gmail
Menu button then More > Settings
under Account Settings click on the account you want
Scroll down to Sync Inboxes and Labels - settings i think you're after are in there

Have to admit it's fairly well hidden and i keep forgetting how to do it myself.

Can't say if other email clients are the same though

edit: ok sorry, missed the yahoo reference so you're probably not using gmail - might be something similar in standard email client?

Hi ...Thanks for replying.
I'm running on Cyanogen rom. I can't find a setting anywhere to change things, not even in the Gmail account, although I don't use the dedicated Gmail app, All my accounts (3 Yahoo and a Gmail) are accessible through a general "email" button.
I guess I'll just have to live with it, although it seems a bit of an oversight for those like me, who have had the same accounts for several years.:(

Its not an oversight. Its just that HTC added this extra functionaility to their own e-mail client. Every other android phone has what CM has.

You could try another email client. For example K-9 has a "sync messages from" setting that seems to do what you want (I don't use it as I delete emails on the server when I download them to the PC).

It's quite nice - but as I switched to it when I first removed my stock ROM, I've no idea how it compares to stock or any other email clients now. I've never felt a need to try anything else since then. My recollection though was that stock lacked something I needed (I don't tend to switch without a reason - even if it's just an itch), though I've no idea what it was.
