Help Tips to improve battery life?

Hi, I just purchased my new droid last night. Upgraded from an OG Droid and I must say the speed and smoothness I am utterly impressed by, but the battery life not so much. I'm already down to something like 20% in about 7 hours from texting, light facebook use and viewing some in-app comics for 45 minutes. Are there any tips to improving the battery?

P.S. I already put the phone on CDMA only.

My biggest battery drain on day one is because I installed K-9 to handle email but the standard app was already doing that job. The two apps were fighting with each other and I was getting double notifications, a hot phone and lousy battery life. I turned everything off on the standard app and everything was good after that.
