Titanium: Backup Locations?

PeteCress

Android Enthusiast
I managed to root my N7000.

Then I installed Titanium Backup.

Then I upgraded to the "Pro" version.

Now I'm trying to figure out backup locations.

My assumption was that it would back up to a network share, but I'm not seeing it.

SD cards or cloud services DropBox, Drop, or GoogleDrive - I see.... but no network share

Might I be looking right at it but not seeing it?

All you have to do is press the menu button on your phone go to preferences and you can set the location of the back up

In Titanium's menu, I see Preferences | Backup Settings | Backup Folder Location. But within that option, I don't see a way to specify a network location. I see a "DETECT!" button, but it's search seems limited to the device's SD cards.

It seems tb scan-driven rather than user-specification-driven. I.E. I am restricted to choosing from what it shows me rather than keying in a URL or something. e.g. \\NAS\A\Backups

Sounds like it's there... but I'm just not understanding it.

You don't hit detect you just navigate to the folder and press the use the current folder button

But network locations are not shown and that's were I want the backups to go - not the SD card.

Otherwise, there would seem tb 2 problems:

- Space. The backup is feeding on the space it's backing up.

- Security. The backups are still on the device, not someplace safe
from harm/loss as they would be if somebody wanted to pay for
DropBox, Drop, or GoogleDrive storage.

Like I said, it's got to be me misunderstanding.... the functionality has to be there.

You can set remote backup in the same menu that you choose the backup location.

The backups are designed to backup to your sd card only. (network share functionality isnt in there) Titanium's main purpose is just to keep a backup of your apps for easy app restoral after a ROM flash. if you want to move them to a network share, just copy the contents of the titanium folder to it manually.

However, you you can set a schedule up to backup to google drive, dropbox, etc. Those apps all come with plenty of free storage for app backup.

helium backup may allow you to set a network share:
