Help Titanium Backup - restore

reinbeau

Klaatu barada nikto
I can't get my phone back this time. I have a backup saved, but I'm afraid to restore all including system data because of the force closes that made me do a factory restore. Plus, I have no preferences in the menu on the hone screen, just settings. How do I get LauncherPro back and get my homescreens back? What a PITA this all is.

ETA And suddenly LauncherPro is available, and Preferences are back. Why? I have no frickin' idea.

use Tibu just for third party apps and user data.....launcher pro is thirdparty app so it will restore back to how u had it at the time of backup

Wow, the original stock look and feel is really strange, and the whole TB restoration experience was interesting, too. It all didn't come back at once, I had to reboot the phone about three times before everything was back, the strangest part was having no Preference button in the menu, and then it was back....

FWIW, My LauncherPro settings restore for the most part, but the widgets always need to be re-done.

I'm going out on a limb here to say you have an atypical experience. I flash my phone A LOT, and use TiBu to restore my apps. Like viny2cool said, you only want to use TiBu to restore third party apps/apps you downloaded. You don't want to restore system data as that's when things start to get dicey. I've also never had to reboot the phone to see TiBu restored apps/settings take place, or no preference button...so that's a little weird. Now if you were restoring apps to a Eclair build, especially stock...I don't have much experience there at all. For me, stock Eclair is really slow. I'm restoring my apps on custom Froyo ROMs with converted filesystems that make a whole lotta difference in terms of speed. My uneducated guess would be maybe it just took awhile for all the changes to settle in Eclair.
