Purpose ... reduce annoyance.

I normally have a 1 min timeout. When developing something due to bad luck the screen would time out here and there and I would have to hit the power button. I now just set the timeout to 1 hour when I'm working on it (with a reminder notification) and reset it when I am done.

I always use an app called https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree&hl=en
I just turn off my lock screen. When the screen times-out, all I have to do is wave my hand over the proximity sensor and the screen comes back on. Tasker isn't minimized because the lock screen didn't come on. Sometime I just sit and think about the the task flow for a while. No sense in having the screen on the whole time. BTW, I use that app because it reacts to being put in the pocket faster than a comparable tasker app would.

Your comments are welcome and shared with others.

The thread you left the question and comments in is dedicated to presenting Tasker solutions and not discussions. The posts were moved into this unconstrained thread so you can persue whatever you want.

It is still in the forum dedicated to Tasker.

The dissusion of the app you describe would get better exposure in ... http://androidforums.com/forums/android-applications.4/
