For T-Mobile service only! Works on the F6 and may also work on the F3.
Here's an old mod/hack for T-Mobile service that I modified for the Optimus F6. This will allow you to use the stock hotspot/wifi tether app to tether your data plan to your other devices.
Instructions:
After a reboot you have to apply the settings again. To make it easier, in SQlite app hold your finger on "settings.db" and wait for the pop up and click on bookmark. This way you can jump straight to it every time you need to enable tethering after a reboot.
Remember tethering without a paid hotspot plan is something you do at your own risk.

- First make a backup in CWM recovery to be safe
- Install SQLite editor to edit the database
- In SQlite navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
- Open settings.db and then open "secure"
- In secure scroll down to the bottom and look for "tether_dun_required"
- Next to it you'll see a value of "1"
- Change this value to "0"
- Save it then exit and open the stock hotspot/tether app and try to tether.
