Help tmobile my touch 3g

I have been experiencing a frustrating malfunction on my phone. It keeps turning off and on by itself and i was wondering if i bought a new battery if that would resolve the issue. Previously I restored my phone back to factory settings and that didn't solve the issue. Is there any way to fix it or do I have to basically purchase a new phone altogether???
