Root to supercid or keep current cid android 4.2.2?

Ive done a little research into this topic and was curious if its worth doing this? i kinda understand how to do it, but is it necessarily if im happy with phone provider (a.k.a boost mobile) or am i looking at this the completely wrong way? i noticed that boost mobile dropped the ball on the kitkat 4.4 update for k2_cl and and instead went with 4.2.2 and sense 5.0:mad: So my question would be, could i change my cid to supercid, switch to one that i could get the kitkat 4.4 update, and still keep boost mobile as my provider? Or go the "themer way" (google play store)to get the look and not necessarily the feel of kitkat 4.4?

3.open device manager by holding "windows key + R" and then type devmgmt.msc
4. hit enter
5. make sure your phone is in fastboot usb mode and make sure your
driver is installed
7. Once installed (SHIFT RIGHT CLICK) your adb folder with the files in it
8. click open command window here
9. enter commands (WHILE PHONE IS IN FASTBOOT USB and PLUGGED IN)

fastboot oem writecid 11111111
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar cid

10. If you get 11111111 when you do the last command then your done
11. You can now flash any international rom on your HTC phone from any other carrier as long as its compatible with your hardware.

Which you may wish to know that the Boost variant is CDMA while the others are GSM. Plus I know how to do it but haven't bothered
