Root To update or not

edinboy

Lurker
I used the Acehack to unlock my Desire HD from Orange to Vodafone.

Been working fine, now my phone nags me occasionally to update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, will this cause me any probs?

Any ideas? I've been ignoring it.

Thanks

If you update, you will lose root access but I believe that you will keep the SIM unlock. Are you intending to keep the phone on the stock ROM or are you wanting to play around with some custom ones in the future?

If you used the AAHK to root, you would have a custom recovery, which could cause you problems if you try and update (not sure if the update looks to see if you have the stock recovery or not).

Also, if you have removed any pre-installed apps, it could cause a prob, as I believe that it would look for them too.

You can always use the AAHK to unroot and then get the update...

Let us know, so we can point you in the right direction :)

I'm quite happy with original Rom, I doubt I'd ever run a custom Rom.
I really here you here edinboy. I too am very happy with the stock gingerbread and sense ROMs; and never really had the urge to deviate from those; as they look beautiful and simply do everything I need them to do. But I installed Desire HD revolution
