Toggle between apps

I just switched from a S3 to the S5 and I'm having trouble figuring out how to toggle between screens/apps. You use to be able to do it easily with a long press home but now that takes me to some Google homepage. HELP! That made things so much easier? Is it still there and just somewhere else and can I customize it?
 
Use the Double outline menu button.

Click it once and it brings up all of the recent apps on the same page you were last.
