Too risky to wait?

So I've had my Rezound from a ghost line activation since late January. I use it on my main line which is upgradeable anytime, and the contract is up at the end of this June. I love my Rezound, even though it's a brick with the extended batteries I have. There is nothing that's a deal breaker with it for me, even with 4 months of hindsight.

I don't want to lose my unlimited data, but other than another Rezound, it would probably have to be a Maxx, for the battery alone and no need to carry spares, though I would miss screen shots and my beautiful screen.

If nothing else comes out before the deadline to grandfather unlimited, should I do it anyways? I see nothing on the horizon that's better, just different. Unlimited data for two more years is a lot to gamble on something we haven't even heard is coming soon. The Droid fighter or Razr HD haven't even been officially announced, I don't see them coming soon.

I'd be willing to upgrade then sell then Rezound if I get something that's truly an upgrade. To me that means quad core, equal or better screen, ICS, more RAM, etc. I don't need beats, I don't use it anymore. I use the EQ app, and that works with all music and video.

If I have to settle for what's out now, I'd get another Rezound or a Maxx probably.

Edit: They tried to sell me on the Maxx, and while I agreed on the battery, water resistance, etc I am not sold. The screen is decent compared to my Rezound, but the camera leaves much to be desired. I'm not "upgrading" to a 5 or 6 month old phone to save unlimited data unless it's really cheap, like $100 or less, and it would be another Rezound, because I have lots of stuff for it.

I'll wait for something better, nothing to see here. If I was filthy rich I wouldn't have gotten a phone today.

im in the same dammed boat.

I have an upgrade on my account, so i decided to get a droid charge off craigslist for cheap..

I bought it with anticipation of the new batch of phones that should have been out by now.

Now with the unlimited data plans going away.. dammit.

Verizon stated that they are waiting till the summer to change the unlimited plans if you buy a new phone on contract.

So you have about 30 days to wait and see if any new cool phones come out..since summer starts i think on the 20th of june.

and if they dont have any cool new phones out by then.. then get the razr maxx or the Galaxy nexus before they crush your unlimited contract.

a 2 year contract and paying 20$ a month extra, will cost you 480$ in the long run.

Buying an unsubsidized uber phone that comes out after the 20th of june will most likely cost you $350 ish more than a subsidized one and you can keep your unlimited 4g.

Or say f-you to verizon.. :vollkommenauf:

Yeah, I love my Rezound. I only like the battery on the Maxx. GNEX has signal issues and extended batteries are a must.

I remember back when visions of Droid Fighters and HTC Edge's were throughout the forums. Now, I'm happy my phone still looks good, but the "2012 is the year of quad core phones with 720P displays as the standard" has yet to happen, at least at Verizon.

I think this phone will hold up fine, enough for me to get a second one. The Maxx has nothing on the Rezound except battery life vs. Thinness, and maybe a UI that uses less ram than Sense, slightly edging out with performance.

You won't see quad cores in any verizon phones for a long time. They don't work with LTE. Dual core is where it's at. Quad is pointless right now anyway.

Impressive... But still, 99.99% of people will have absolutely no need for a quad core phone right now. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure ics (which isn't even out yet for most phones) doesn't even fully support dual core phones. It'll be years before quad core is properly utilized. And by then, who knows, we might be using processors with 10 cores. And when that time comes, it'll still be way over kill unless you replace your home pc with your phone, or if you are a SERIOUSLY intense gamer.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, I think faster dual core processors would be so much more useful.
