[TOOL] Embeddable Scripting Language

Hi all,

Almost a year ago I posted a brief announcement about Deelang, an embeddable scripting language that could be used in Android.

Deelang is a very simple, very lightweight scripting language you can use to add scripting capabilities to your app. Whether you want users to be able to extend your app with scripts, or want to implement some functionality in an easily-updated script format yourself, Deelang could well be for you.

Since the announcement, development has continued on various things, and we've now released the second milestone release of Deelang, version 0.20.

The major new feature in this version is a new compiler that now compiles directly to DEX bytecode. Scripts are compiled and run on-device, and produce a java.lang.Class that you can use like any other Class object. This means that in many cases, Deelang scripts run as fast as straight Java code, and can also be natively compiled by the platform's JIT (if present).

Deelang is completely free, and is licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

If you're interested in adding scripting to your App, you should check it out at http://deelang.googlecode.com. All feedback, bug reports, feature ideas and so on are most welcome!

Thanks,
Ross
