Top Verizon Phone of 2012

Newbie
There are a few phones that are just amazing, but I have no idea whether or not they are being released for Verizon or not. I'm not eligible for an upgrade until 11/02/12, so although I still gotta wait about 7 months, I'm still wanting to have something to look forward to.

The HTC One X looks amazing, but I don't think that it's being released on Verizon.

The Samsung Galaxy Note looks cool, and there is a rumor that it's being released on Verizon as the Galaxy Journal, but there is nothing concrete.

The Samsung Galaxy S3, probably going to be the hottest phone of this year, but the question is; will Verizon get it?!

I know there are a lot of Motorola Droid phones, but I heard that if you want a great Android experience, then it's better to get a phone from Google/Samsung.

Anyway, I currently have the iPhone 4, and I'm tired of iPhones and iOS. I want an Android phone real bad, and I want my first Android device to make a great first impression so I can stick with it!

Thoughts on this?

Yeah, it's pretty early for you to be worried about which phones will be out by the time you're ready for an upgrade. That being said, I think a majority of Big Red's customers (myself included) will be waiting for the SGS3.

You may want to look into jail breaking your iPhone 4. I jail broke my 3Gs, and it was like a new phone. It'll definitely help to pass the time while you wait for your contract to expire.

+1 There are supposed to be some nice phones coming out soon (i.e. Droid Fighter), but they will probably be beaten by something else we don't even know about by the time November rolls around. BTW, that's also the time frame for the next Nexus device. So, definitely keep your eye out for that one.

Next "flagship" type phone for Verizon will most likely be the Fighter rumored to be released around 4/12. However, the CTIA show is in early May, (7th I think) and some cool phones should be announced there..... many to be released in the 3rd and 4th qtrs.

I have a NE2 and "loyalty" discount upgrade available as of the 15th of this month, but I'm waiting for the next "Superphone" that will relace my "X". It'll have to be a great phone because my Droid X is far and away the best phone I have ever had.

Patiently/impatiently waiting,

Same here. In fact, I'm not even going to jump on the next superphone as soon as it hits the shelves. I'm going to see if I can hold out long enough for it to go buy-one-get-one-free so I can upgrade my wife's phone at the same time. The X is good enough that I think we can wait that long.

The "X" is great, I'd have no reservations if I have to hold out. A BOGO doesn't help me because both my wife and daughter have and love iPhones. They're both holding out for the 5 or whatever Apple calls their next generation phone.

Even if the Fighter looks good to me, I'm pretty sure I'll be waiting at least until the CTIA show. But you never know.....

Best of luck to all of us,

hTC Droid Incredible 4G WILL be the bomb with the S4 processor! :D

Yup. That S4 processor is smoking everything else in the benchmarks. Plus with built in LTE it should be better on battery than current LTE phones.

Unless they only release it in white (like in the leaked pics) it will likely be my next phone.

I will disagree here. I have had both the Nexus S 4G and the Epic Touch, both Samsung phones. I find Touch Wiz (the skin that Samsung phones use) to be a bit annoying and odd looking with nothing too helpful. Build quality is decent although I dropped my ET on concrete from waist level and shattered the screen. The radios in the Samsung phones leave a lot to be desired too. I just got the Droid Razr Maxx and it's great. Things like Motocast are really useful, much moreso than Kies on Samsung phones. Build quality is excellent with a Kevlar backing and Gorilla Glass up front. The radio in it is great as well. Iwill give Samsung phones the nod for cameras and video quality but I prefer Motorola for just about everything else it seems.

Yeah - no one can seem to beat Moto in terms of the quality of the hardware and their radios. And if you like their phones stock, they are great. But if you want to do anything creative to them, you're in for a long slog.

My wife loved her stock RAZR. On the other hand, my Bionic drove me nuts because there was no Dev support for it once I got it rooted. Hence, the Rezound I have now. (Which, on the plus side, is light years ahead of the Thunderbolt in terms of overall quality!)
