Hello everyone! So this is my situation - I bought a like-new condition 8GB Nexus 7 that also came with a 2 year damage warranty (in case I drop it or something, warranty worth $50) for $180. But then the 16GB is now selling for $217 (cause of tax).. without a warranty though. That's a $37 difference..

I know the question is "Do you need a lot of memory?" Honestly, I do.. but I don't mind using an OTG cable with flash drives. But then again its 5 GB.. >.< but then it has a warranty.. I can't decide!

So would you keep the 8GB with a warranty for $180 or buy the 16GB without a warranty? Thanks so much for your help!

I'd keep the 8GB with the warranty if you use OTG.

No point in losing your warranty for what amounts to an 8gb flash drive

If you will not play many games, go for the 8gb, but if you play games, go for the 16gb. There is only about 5gb free for apps and media on the 8gb, so not practical unless you like to app juggle or want carry a cable and flash drive for media.

Go with the most memory you can get or afford. You won't regret it. The warranty on the 8GB won't do you any good if you run out of space.

Remember, 8GB is NOT what you get out of the box. With Android OS, you will start with 5.5 to 6GB free, and when you get down under 1GB left you are pushing things. Android will still need 500MB (MINIMUM) to run smoothly. If you get under that, you get constant warnings and slow performance.

Plan on only 5-5.5 GB to use for apps and your data on an 8GB device.

My first question would be why is it sold without warranty? Warranty is standard on anything new sold in the u.s. Was it a refurb?

16 gigabytes won't do you any good if the screen cracks/hardware fails :p

That goes both ways

There is a one year manufacturer warranty on new devices. No they will not warranty for your carelessness :p, but for manufacturing defects Asus will cover them.

PIA to send in and have fixed/replaced but you need to do the same for any warranty.

And his 8GB is a "like new". The 16GB is new. That's why the "extended" warranty on the 8GB model.

I think the op should update the poll to indicate the above. Both have a warranty, the "like new" is an "extended" warranty, because it's used. The other has a manufacturers warranty because it's brand new.

Saying the 16GB has no warranty is misleading.
