Total Equipment Protection From Sprint

Whatever. I am sure that you are an asset liability specilist or have a masters in actuarial mathmatics. Even so, you must have missed the class that says insurance fraud is a significant portion of costs. One Evo will not be missed. 1,000 will be missed. Taking into account all of the others who do this, 50,000+ phones fraudulently claimed on insurance affects the math.

So, while the insurance company will continue to make money, doing this isn't screwing the insurance company, its screwing every body else who pays for insurance.

But go ahead...the likelihood of you or someone else getting caught for insurance fraud is unlikely. And, I don't care that much if people do it, I just don't like people dimissing it as a victimless crime.

Having said that, I'd highly suggest you not use your picture on your avatar in case your insurance employer notices it and wonders why she thinks insurance fraud is funny.

She's fine, she's got Obama:)

the $7 plan is actually two $4 plans in one.

the first covers wear and tear service repairs and the second covers lost and stolen phones, water damage and accidental damage

now... if you really think about it, the first part of the plan is pretty much worthless... I can't think of too many scenarios where I would need service or repairs for normal wear and tear, and even in the cases that I do, usually the fee won't be above their deductible.

anyways, long story short, I think everyone should know that you can sign up only for the $4 Equipment Replacement Program, and save yourself $3 every month =D

edit: i expect many thanks for saving you over $1000 over the next 30 years.

you would think a developer phone would help out with their bottom line anyway. more people would create more apps therefore bringing a bigger audience to the android community. until google/sprint releases an official developer phone for the evo4g, then this is pretty much the only way we will get spare phones to develop on.

its not like i said im going to lose the phone so i can give it to my friend and have them activate it on their account. that isnt possible anyway due to the MEID flagging.

Fraud is fraud. From your original comment it's your intent to DEFRAUD the insurance company. The "developer" excuse is meaningless. It's like saying I stole money from a dead homeless person but want to give it to charity and he's dead and has no family so he won't miss it. I've always wondered where today's children learned their morals.

It's theft plain and simple and IF PROSECUTED you could go to jail. If you want a developer phone go through the proper channels. If you want to MAKE MONEY developing software BUY another phone. That's called the "cost of doing business." You're not doing Sprint or their insurance company any favors all you're doing is costing HONEST people more money for their insurance.

Are you 100% sure you can get the 2nd one without having the first? The fact they are priced separately wouldn't matter because you CAN have the 1st without the 2nd.

Had to Necro this thread, because now I want to cancel it. :)
I don't treat my EVO like a newborn any longer more like a teenager.

Do I have to call Sprint to do this? I can't find a link on the website to do it, but I could be looking in the wrong place.

Think I'm going to take the $7 I pay sprint and give it to Hulu+

you can call them or use their chat service or go into a store.

in your plan details you can also go there and un-check the insurance i believe..

I know it's old info here, but it should be noted that the BB warranty does not cover water damage. I had a sales rep there once tell me it did while trying to sell it to me and I called him on it. Three other people later and a quick question to the store manager and it was confirmed that water damage was not covered.

TEP isn't great but compared to the option of spending $400 to replace a phone for the first few years the $7 a month makes good sense.
