Totally Lost..

:( Seriously - I feel like the lost kid in a city of Android Users..
I 'updated' to a new LG Apex/android cell phone about a month ago & not sure if I was just not well informed or what .. I'm sure everyone will be screaming at me but I so DISLIKE my phone.. probably because 1) the battery life sucks.. it spends MOST of it's day hooked up to the charger on the wall. I mean, I wanted a phone I could USE ... not something I may as well just get a land-based phone for.. The battery is always sucked up within about 3 hours or so.. My husband says - "well, don't use the applications' - well that's like saying you own a country club & can't use any of the amenities! What's the point of having all the apps on that thing if you can't USE them?? It's sooo annoying to me.. Secondly, there are sooo many apps, I can't figure out and I don't seriously have the TIME to waste reading up on it/studying it and 'playing' with it. I know how unpopular my comments are to those of you who so love these Droids.. I just am so LOST with the whole thing.. Ready to go back to the store & trade it in for a CELL PHONE I can use .. I am not technically elite but I'm not a dummy either.. I just think you need to take a class in this stuff for a day to be able to appreciate & use all the apps (providing you can keep it plugged in, that is)..
I am really sorry I ever bought the thing.. other than Pandora which is wonderful and the camera/video .. I was better off with my old LG cell phone..

Welcome to the android forums! Hope we see each other around here!

Hmm strange problem.. What kind of "apps" are you running?

Welcome to the Android Forums!

Battery drain on smartphones is and unfortunately will likely always be a challenge. To keep these devices light the manufacturers are force to design them with small batteries. I don't believe, however, that a 3 hour battery life is normal.

To try to reduce the drain on the battery please consider doing the following things:

1. Your phone has multiple home screens. Check each of these home screens and delete any widgets that you don't absolutely need. Widgets run constantly so they are draining your battery whether or not you use them.

2. Go to App Drawer -> Settings -> Wireless & Networks. Check to see if either WiFi or Bluetooth are enabled. IF they are and you are not actively using them, turn them off. Both tend to drain batteries especially if they are actively searching for a network/device to connect to.

3. Turn off Auto Brightness on the phone if it is enabled. Manually set the screen brightness to the lowest comfortable setting.

4. If the phone has battery profiles, select the most conservative profile that's applicable to you.

5. If you have a weather app installed on your phone, uninstall it. Most weather apps, especially the animated ones, tend to use large amounts of system resources (and battery).

6. If you have email set up on your phone disable auto sync. Rather than polling for messages every few minutes you can manually initiate a sync from your email app when you periodically check for new email.
