Totally torn-iPhone 4g vs .....

Ok, a quick couple of points.

1) Staying on AT&T makes my life 100% easier. Wife has iPhone and loves it, coverage is good, corporate discount makes it nice, currently have unlimited data.

2) Would rather have a "real" Android phone than an iPhone(Hate Steve J. and his ability to be draconian towards the iPhone)

I have the Backflip right now, but my 30 day return period is up next week. I went into the AT&T store to talk to the manage and he swore that they have no info about any imminent Android phones. He asked which phone I would take if I had to make a choice right there, and I told him that I would walk out and go Sprint/Verizon/TMobile to get an Android phone. He said he is pretty sure that AT&T would not be launching any Android phones anytime soon due to the fact that the manufacturers would be dumb since AT&T is going to be 110% behind the iPhone at launch.

So...I can get the iPhone 4g..have all my friends envious but be bummed that I don't have Android.

I could walk away and try to see if the grass is greener-dealing with a more expensive plan, unknown coverage(TMobile BLEW here 5 yrs ago when I had them) and an Android phone.

or I could sign up for the iPhone 4g, try to eBay it(and hope that Jobs/AT&T don't put in limitations to flipping the phones) hope to get enough money to cover the initial cost of the iPhone and the cost of a Nexus 1(a cool phone even though it is no longer cutting edge).

Does anyone know when Google is actually closing the online store to buy the N1?

Thanks for letting me release some stress.

EDIT: HOLY MOLEY! Pre-ordered iPhone 4g 32gb are already being bid up to $900+ on eBay! Are these people serious, or is it a scam?
If it is real, what is the best way to make sure that I don't get scammed? Is Paypal 100% reliable now?

People who buy stuff on eBay are dumb. Take advantage of that and flip it for a huge profit.

Yep. Get the new iphone, use it for the time being, and then when a good android phone comes out, sell the iphone.

He could sell it brand new. If he puts it for sale the moment it sells out then he could buy a Nexus or Milestone or Desire or anything tht works with AT&T 3G bands. Only problem is damn miniSIM may cut his market (as it is AT&T only for the time being)

THANK YOU FOR THIS! I am eligible for upgrade with zero intent to "upgrade" (no phone on AT&T is better than my Liquid) and zero intent to leave AT&T and was considering doing this to stash money for my Gingerbread phone (when the Nexus Two comes out). Then because of MiniSIM figured to forget about it. Great to see this!!

no kidding...come on Telus Samsung Galaxy S or Desire...I'll get me an Iphone and sell it new in box.

I'm stuck on AT&T and I will get the new iPhone if the waiting game continues. I'd rather have Android but the iPhone 4 is the sexiest phone I've ever seen, and I actually don't hate Apple, unlike some of you.

Hopefully the HTC Intruder turns out to be AT&T's equivalent of the Nexus One, Droid Incredible, or Evo 4g and makes the decision easier.
