Help Touch Sceen acting funny

dnwong

Lurker
I replaced the keyboard and front faceplated(outer glass) which required removing the digitizer and putting in the new front bezel.

However, when I put it back together, all looks well... However, when I try to use it, the digitizer is acting funny. In the horizontal with keyboard open, the touch screen acts fine. However, in the vertical position, I can not select certain parts of the screen. It selects the icon above the one I select.

And I can not slide the page. Each time I try to slide, it just selects the icon on that screen.

What happened. Is there a calibration or did I not install something correctly?

Hello and welcome, dnwong.

It is possible that you have misaligned the screen just enough for a portion of it to be "not seen" by the digitizer, as well as dead pixels being created during the process. If that's the case (the dead pixels), you're likely going to be in need of tech repair rather than self-done repair. ;)

If it's misalignment (only takes a few microns), then without calibration equipment you're faced with having to either take it to a tech or just keep trying with moving the screen and placing the bezel correctly.

If it were my device, I'd not hesitate to take it or send it to an expert. :)
