I have a Motorola electrify m and my screen is unresponsive when I go into a contact and press the messaging icon.

The electrify's screen is notoriously picky, especially out on the edges of the screen.
Make sure you are tapping/pressing the area firmly.
If that doesn't work, you may want to try rebooting the phone and see if that helps at all.
For me, the only thing that cured it was finally getting rid of it and getting a new phone.
