touch screen not responding

proscan 8 inch tablet not screen not responding to touch, lock not opening. how can this be fixed?
 
I looked around for support for your tablet,unfortunately,there doesn't seem to be too much to go on,much less finding the mfgs website for information.

Without anything to reference,the only advice I can offer is performing a factory reset.

For guidance,I'd GOOGLE & find a tablet w/the exact same version of ANDROID & follow the steps as they apply for a Factory reset.
 
The first thing would be to try a reset. Hold down the volume down button and power button for approximately 30 seconds and the tablet should reboot. If this does not fix the issue, I would invite you to join us at AndroidForums.com where you could pose the question where others may have encountered similar issues.
 
If the touch screen is registering the touches where your finger is not making contact then recalibration certainly would help, but if your screen doesn't respond to touches at all, then the digitizer has failed and you will probably have to replace it.
