Help Touch screen not working

Newbie
I got water in my phone, I'm not exactly sure how just discovered it when my phone was acting up. I dried it out and left in a big of rice for a couple of days. I've taken it out, and the touch screen doesn't work. It recognizes nothing. It only unlocks if I slide the keyboard out but I still can't click anything. Do I have to get a new phone? Or is there a way to hopefully fix it?

You can buy a digitizer on ebay and replace it yourself BUT...There may be other water damage besides the digitizer. When I repaired my Moment, I received 2 bad digitizers before I got a usable one. I took apart and reassembled the phone 5 times, not a pleasant experience. If you have TEP, your covered (and you've been paying $7/mo for a phone worth ~$50). If you try to use the regular warranty, you may be denied because of moisture damage.

if you got what the poster above says. make sure there are no stickers that change colors that will tell you had water in. tehy normally are on devices and change to red. god luck

if tehy tell you different then you fight back andsay Humidity.

Hello,

I have the exact same problem. Water damage to my phone. It seems like the phone is functioning fine except for the touch screen. I was wondering if the digitizer is what I would need to replace to fix this issue. Is the digitizer the part that receives the touch input? I know there may be other damage, but I think this is a good start.

I do have TEP, but the stupid thing is they want me to pay a 100 dollar deductible and they would give me a HTC Hero (I think). I think I am going to cancel the insurance because paying a 100 dollar deductible on top of 7 dollars a month is quite ridiculous.

I am available for an upgrade in May, and am using an old Palm Centro now. If I could repair the moment and use it till May, that would be ideal.

Thanks for your input

It's likely that a digitizer is all that you need, but you won't know for sure till you swap it.

Unless you really value convenience, Insurance on a phone is only warranted for the first year. Especially true given todays inflated deductibles. A Moment in excellent condition with extras and clear ESN goes for ~$75 at auction on ebay.
