Touch screen or physical gaming controller?

Which one do you prefer when playing games on your Android? Touchscreen or a physical gaming console (which and why)?

When a game does it correctly I prefer the touchscreen but of course there is no comparison when using a controller for highly technical games. Though I do not enjoy balancing my tablet on something to use a controller. Really each has their ups and downs.
