Touch screen problems?

I've read am article on the web that says something about the first few batches having problems with the touch screen hardware. I think I may be affected my this, because sometimes when touching the screen somewhere on my nexus it will not respond at all. Geese the first bunch of nexus tablets really had a handful of problems, GPS failing, Wi-Fi disconnection, and now hardware touch screen problems. I think for next year's model of the nexus 7, in going to wait a month or 2 before I buy. Last year's model has the flickering screen.

Here's the article.

What do you think I should do, contact Google, or wait to see if this problem continues?

I'm having this problem as well. It happens maybe once an hour or two where it won't register when I touch the screen then I go to the home screen and back to the ap I was having problems with and it works fine. I don't know if I should get a replacement or if it's a software problem.

I think this is a hardware problem, not a software problem. If it consist or gets worse, then I may have to ask Google for a replacement.

Sadly I'm probably going to return mine. I'd hate being stuck w/a defect then having to hassle sending it in and not having it for awhile. I absolutely love the n7 otherwise. I guess I'll have to put on my patience pants and wait until they get the issue fixed.

Haha, thats the exact reason that I don't want to send mine back, just the thought without it...

I've only noticed that when playing Jewels Maze(love this specific[there are a few similar ones] game.

I've noticed this playing dead trigger. My character is making moves I'm not commanding them to make. For example, I'll be running, and then randomly reload and start moving backwards.

I read somewhere that Google have acknowledged there are problems with the touch screen and GPS and are looking into it.

I was going to buy one for family use but I'm going to hang fire due to all the various issues that have been reported.

There are several threads over at XDA which cover build quality issues ie dead pixels, dust under screen, creaking units etc etc

Maybe Google should start considering a new manufacturer for their 7" tablets

They are...at least for the n7s lg was named as the manufacturer a week or 2 ago for the next iteration I wonder if all these defects are at least part of the reason. Asus is making the upcoming n10s lol.

Well after using my n7 quite a bit more I haven't really had any problems except the occasional hiccup in chrome which some could be attributed to my big fingers on a hi-res 7" display. I haven't tested gps which i don't and won't use so I'm keeping mine.

I have a 32gb N7 straight out of the box, i havent done anything fancy to it, apart from crack the screen. The LCD still worked but no response from the digitiser.
I bought a new digitiser and LCD combo and fitted it. The LCD works great but the digitiser still dosent work. So i took it apart again and refitted it. Still no good.
I did a factory reset and reboot but it made no difference now im stuck at the setup page because i cant choose English because my touch screen isnt working.
Is there anything i can do that will show or tell me if the problem is with the screen or the n7.

Thanks

They've rolled out an update for the touchscreen and various other initials. If you go into Settings, About Tablet, look under Build Number and if it says JSS15J. you've got the update.
