This is my first post, so I'm happy to be able to help someone!
Open TouchPal keyboard (from your list of applications) > Smart input > TouchPal Curve > Enable TouchPal Curve.
It's that simple
EDIT: I've just spotted an even easier way! When you have the keyboard in front of you, at the top-right there is a round button with a pointing finger. Press it > Curve > Close. Even easier.
