Thanks so much for this! I was having this problem with my S4 after the update and I ended up having to turn off all the motion gestures and air view things (which I never use) before it went back to normal.Hi, having tried all the above except the installing Nova and factory resetting. I fiddled with the phone and went through it's own settings. After tweaking and resetting all things in "My Device" lo and behold, I now have touchwiz working. Hurrah. Sorry, I cannot tell you exactly which tweak did the trick, but go give it a try, maybe you will be successful in pinpointing the culprit. Power to the people.

How does Nova work? Will it override Touchwiz? All I simply want to do is remove some of the icons that are on my main homepage currently, sort the apps in my own order and put folders on my main home screen to contain my most frequently used apps.
Thanks
it's just 100000 times less laggy.Hi
My Galaxy S4 upgraded to Android v5.0.1 (Lollipop) last night. Since the update my Home screens have completely changed and I wanted to get them back in a way I had organised before the update, apps in different folders contained in the main home screen etc. However, when I try to move an app into the folder by doing the long-press on the app icon an error message always comes up 'Touchwiz has stopped working' and I can't move the icon anywhere.
Has this happened to anyone else since their update? I really would like to remove some of the 'clutter' on my home screen because it's so frustrating and organise my apps into folders like I had them before.
Is there any way of fixing this issue without doing a factory reset, and does that even work?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This also helped me as well! Thank you for finding and sharing the solution! It was driving me nuts!!!Hi, having tried all the above except the installing Nova and factory resetting. All you have to do is download Nova. I updated my phone at work and when I got off...man I IRRATATED to say the least. I downloaded Nova and I'm back up and running again.Having to try 1million things was annoying, but it's good to go again.Hi

I had the same problem few days ago and believe me I tried everything except factory reset. I almost done it this morning but Amandalannon's post made me curious. So I went to "my device" and opened air view, turned everything off under air view and restarted it. Walaaaa! problem solved, now I can rearrange all my icons again.. I hope it will do the same to all of you having problem with touchwiz.
Don't do factory reset if i can fix this problem with out changing factory settings or even any addition n deletion of any applications.Hi

Hi Tim,
I've got exactly the same issue and it's driving me nuts. I can no longer move icons around without Touchwiz crashing. I've tried switching to Easy mode and back. I've tried clearing the cache. I've tried safe-mode. Nothing has worked yet. If anyone has other suggestions other than factory reset I'm all ears.
Cheers,
Luiz

I had the same problem you have to go to settings/my device/motion and gestures and turn all of them off then you can move your apps and widgets to where ever you want. And then just go back and turn on your motion and gestures back on just remember these steps.Other than a factory reset, all I can suggest chaps is installing a 3rd party launcher app like Nova![]()
